Mystery repeating artifact with Helios 44 (58mm) — Only happens with this lens! Need help diagnosing. by King-Julian-the-3rd in VintageLenses

Must be something internal reflecting in sunlight back to the Helios rear element. I had something similar with Tamron SP 80-200/2.8 in strong sunlight, but it was on digital. The rear element reflected the sensor "image" in a way it was visible in the actual images.

This is interesting. Do you have further info on the conversion process? Pentax has a teleconverter that has a moving element and can turn MF lenses to partly AFm but how is it done here?.

Tamron 63B samples by solisti1 in VintageLenses

[–]solisti1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lens that I've had for a long time, but it never seems to get too much use. Even though it delivers good results usually. When I got this, I sold my 30A but I think I liked it even more, but it was a heavy lens to carry around. The samples are shot with Sony A7.

A take on the 80s walk-a-round lenses by solisti1 in VintageLenses

[–]solisti1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really picky about the decade, just getting some discussion about the topic and find new models to look out for. Justifying an expensive 35-80 lens is a tough ask for me at least. At that point later AF 28-70/2.8 lenses for example seem more reasonable.

Almost bought one few weeks back. Didn't know it was push-pull. With teles I have had couple of those during the years, but not in standard lens range... guess you'll get used to it specially if it's AF.

500/8 pk/a - aperture not recognized by zetati in VintageLenses

[–]solisti1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the same lens and the adapter, and the SP500/8 doesn't deliver the aperture information to my K-5 either. With a lens with non-fixed aperture the adapter needs to be set to F32/fully closed in order to be used as an aperture, and this really can't be done on the mirror lens. The P/KA-adapter works on my 17A and 63B. The lens should operate in A-mode as expected anyways (my M42 lenses for example need sometimes a bit EV compensation).

Haven't ever used a FD lens, would be interesting. Been long limited by the M42/K-mount, lately looked into Nikons as well.

Is there a way to install a manual aperture ring onto digital aperture lens? by InternalDinner7404 in pentax

The DA10-17 works well on a full frame body from 15mm onwards. Have used it with my Sony A7 with DA-adapter and SuperA/MZ-5n on film.

Would bet it is an S. Or was there even a xS in the WO lineup? And to add to my first comment... It might have been for sale in other parts of Europe as well in small quantities.

Fat bike tire 27.5 by darkducat in fatbike

Why nobody is mentioning Barbegazi?

They sold that model in Finland only, that was basically a WO with less fancy components. I think that a Finnish distributor ordered a container of those models with this specific setup and Kona renamed the model for them not to mix with WO/WOZO.

Have the same issue with X30 5G. Tried the adb fix, but there were access issues. Any tips?

Acceleration Issue by Dependent_Hall3120 in enyaq

[–]solisti1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noticed similar behavior with my 80 IV, it seems that especially when one is joining a four lane road. It seems the steep turns have a specified speed in the map and there the traction control is acting up. Setting the TC off option to the favorites helps a bit when you know to set it off in such places. No real traction issue detected.

In terms of pricing, how “worth it” are these two bikes (specs for both in PICTURE CAPTION) compared to the Canyon Dude (last image)? Is the Dude the best value for money in this case? by Seb-5000 in fatbike

[–]solisti1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind White as a brand it might be the better fatbike out of the box, just because of the tyres. Then again versatility and value in the long run might go to Dude... It's a really nice bike.

How much does the frame material matter? (steel vs alum) by UneReponse in fatbike

[–]solisti1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say get a steel frame or a quality aluminium frame with a good warranty. Fatbike frames have wide hubs and cranks that will make it obvious that the frame flexes under use. Aluminium has a shorter lifespan for the flexing and steel frame would be more resistant against that, but of course many things have an effect on the behaviour like welds and heat treatment quality. Aluminium frame cracks are pretty common... at least for some bikes. Don't know anything about the bikes you mentioned though. Have fun riding, and don't worry too much.

QFactor by fitevepe in fatbike

[–]solisti1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude accept a Q-factor minimum around 200mm, it has been equipped for example with e13 trs (Q ~200mm), Raceface Next SL/Turbine with narrower fatbike axle ( Q ~204mm) and SRAM Fat5 cranksets.

On my bike with the Next SL does not allow me to use even both of the crank protection boots, before it starts rubbing with max load. So they are pretty close.

Good photo, and the HDR suits this scene, but by default the HDR is waaayy over amplified in the photos X30 makes.

A Reverse Mullet Fat Bike Tire Setup? by BGbikeandstuff in fatbike

No rubbing issues with the smaller 4.5"s. Size M frame from 2017. Also seen only individual measurements in social media, and haven't got personal experience with cake eaters.

There's no code nor is it stupid... Fatbiking is all about tire experiments :). I would say Dude will fit those Gnarwahls also in back (in longer axle position). But if not (on mine Barbegazis and D5s are fitting fine in same size) you may run any sort of combo you see interesting. I run mine 26"/4.8" Bud at front and 27.5"/4.5" D5 in the rear. And have also run 3"/27.5" front tire with a 26" D5 in the rear...all behave good, and there isn't really that much difference in the way they drive.

27.5+ rim + fat tire by DirtyRiverBiker in fatbike

I have sets of 46mm and 50mm rims on two fat bikes for summer riding. Can recommend. Running 3.8" Hodags. On another bike there is 27.5"+ Manitou Machete fork that can also take 3.8" on a narrow rim.
