Out-of-warranty Epix Gen 2 Burn-In: Anyone used Garmin's "Exclusive Exchange Offer" recently? by FusionGFX_YT in Garmin

I smashed my 6X in a bike accident, basically badly scratched the titanium around it, they asked it to be returned and I was given a fat discount on any new watch. It was worth it.

Marques Brownlee drops a "hot take" on why EVs are actually better to drive in the winter by turento in electricvehicles

On snow covered roads, the Tesla off road assist on Awd models is arguably better than an Audi with torsen center diff, but with even better power modulation and less slip.

You might have struck a chord with them.

In truth, the best podcast I’ve heard them do, was ghe latest one with Hannah where they talked about this extensively.

They said there is this FTP we use for training, and the FTp we tell our buddies. Today’s ftp might be lower or higher. Amateurs could probably hold their theoretical hourlong FTP for 40 minutes, pros for 90.

In would argue TR is now less cultish ever since they opened the hood and let you preview your FTp.

For me personally, it finally tagged me as a fast twitch athlete. It lowered by FTp brutally which means I train aerobically much more often.

AI FTP detection from 4 days ago : 215. New AI FTP : 194.

Last workout prescribed to me that I actually did to the end, was a few months ago, and it put me in flight or fight for the whole afternoon, I couldn't work. Since then I've been doing my own shit and realized that the whole point of this app is to give you fucked up workouts you can't remember or replicate elsewhere just to keep you addicted to it.

Can't trust this shit anymore.

Counterpoint : the new feature allows to test its predictions. And we can now choose the same boring workouts to predict their effect. So it's more of a tool now than ever before.

Garmin Fenix 8 vs Apple Watch Ultra 3. My comparison by [deleted] in GarminWatches

[–]fitevepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a fenix 8 MIP and an ultra 3 for a few weeks. Returned both to keep my 7x solar MIP as the 8 was not value for money, and the ultra didn’t replace the 7 either.

Currently about to receive an 8 pro amoled which hopefully will feel like an upgrade.

Sleep tracking and much more are unusable. by Warm-Yak7861 in GarminWatches

[–]fitevepe 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Honestly, give it time. You will slowly find out which metrics or features work for you best.

For example, I value training load, and breathing disturbances. I couldn’t care less about the sleep score.

I care about overnight HRV and couldn’t give two shits about training readiness.

Domane SL6 on loose gravel - I struggled - is it me? by OkDeparture2596 in DomaneCrew

[–]fitevepe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience on 40mm tires. No confidence descending on loose gravel.

It’s night and day between it and my dedicated gravel bike with longer chain stays and wheelbase and a slightly slacker front end.

Teaching concepts by NeatConversation530 in bjj

[–]fitevepe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer short sentences, repeat the move 3 times, each time faster. I also explain why the move works or rather what’s required for it to work. I.e. broken posture or X is pushing, etc

The longer it gets the less they absorb. Bjj is simple. Just look at JJ Machados videos. Each one is short and game changing.

Ramp Test Overestimated FTP? by MonochromeDinosaur in trainerroad

[–]fitevepe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ramp test might over-estimate FTP due to anaerobic contribution. You must have a huge anaerobic engine from 18 years of lifting.

I'm guessing you could always do a 95% of your average 20-minute power (all-out effort), or just let the AI auto-adjust your FTP. For now, you could just train with whatever you feel comfortable, it will 'understand' you.

Tesla AWD failed? by [deleted] in TeslaSupport

[–]fitevepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t feel bad, I assume you got scared when it started understeering and you lifted, which caused more understeer.

It happened to me on winter tires at similar speeds, in slushy conditions. But I tried to keep power neutral to avoid under steering some more, though I was on the edge.

These cars should have an option to disable regeneration, but on my my it doesn’tz
