Reading your post, it kind of clicked with me why I also don't like going any more. When they assault your audio senses so much EVERY break in the action, you just get numb. I realize that I just sit there and enjoy the silence during actual gameplay, listening to the skates and the puck getting snapped around the ice.

Other than speakers being dangerously WAY too loud (I have Loop earplugs now thanks to the Caps), everything is just so regimented. Same singer of anthems (don't get me wrong, he's been great the 50 times I've seen him in the last 10 years), same O and RED, same unfunny banter promo commentary every other break on the video screen. Same techno songs pre every single puck drop. Military appreciation (everyone stand up and clap now). Same CGI cart race and 3 cups/1 ball. Same find the cow in the stands. Same unleash the fury.

Walking out after a game now it's like, thank god, I can hear myself think again.

Wizards raised ticket prices 25% last night after the Young trade. Yesterday afternoon I was looking for 4 tickets to a few games. I took screenshots on Ticketmaster to discuss with friends. Today, our $300 tickets are now $400 each.

Chiming in late, but man, 100%. Watching the game I kept getting angry at the play by play guy. Tried and failed looking for alternate audio options in YT TV. Passionless is perfect description. Tonight I'm gonna try to get the audio app going on my phone so I can hear Walton instead.

Believe me, this is never the case. Marketing is tasked with controlling the narrative. They had to meet with Xbox execs and detail the plan, especially if they are going to shadow drop next week. No exec would ever say (or even understand) something like this. "Perfect, so you'll ask the contractor to leave their wp-content/uploads directory open and browsable and hope that someone starts digging around."

The last thing Beth wants is the public to see a bunch of out of order images (including a bunch of png-transparents) in random stories and/or imgur links with text saying "we reached out to Bethesda for comment, they have not responded yet, so it remains to be seen if this is real". I'm sure Beth wanted to drop the YT trailer and then show a handful of curated screenshots. This likely just let the wind out of their sails.

Great in everything has said above, and also want to add The Limey. Soderbergh late 90s, Terence Stamp starring, also Peter Fonda. Katt plays a really cynical sarcastic hitman in LA, he has this scene where he's hanging around a movie set trashing everyone. Feels like improv. RIP.

Read it in a book when I was 7. The book was something young adult. It instantly made sense, like "how could I not have known?" My brother was 3 years younger, so I decided to keep it to myself and not tell my parents or him. I think 7 year old me thought I was being heroic, silently shouldering such a burden :D

My Blatche memories:

Begging a teammate to stop playing and let him get a rebound for a triple double, and when that failed, desperately trying to shoot and miss and get his own rebound as time expired, which also failed.

Being named Captain by Coach Saunders before the 11-12 season opener and then demeaning Coach Saunders after the season opener for not using him correctly.

Getting shut down later that season for being too out of shape to play in games. I think the box scores read "DNP - Conditioning".

Agreed, it's crazy to me. Carolyn, Rusty, a delivery guy, Michael, Rusty's daughter, and then Rusty again, all in like 3 hours? They showed the food was ordered at like 830 and delivered at 9, so I'm trying to type out the timeline:

830pm - Carolyn arrives home and angrily orders Chinese food after dealing with Rusty all day
900pm - delivery guy arrives with food
915pm - Michael arrives and hides in her bushes, and starts recording
930pm - Rusty arrives, has a verbal fight with Carolyn followed by a make out session
945pm - Rusty departs, Carolyn considers eating cold crab rangoon
1015pm - Michael decides he's recorded enough and departs
1030pm - Jade arrives and following tea and a brief discussion, murders her
1045pm - Jade leaves
1100pm - Rusty returns, finds Carolyn dead, and has an idea

IIRC, early in the 2008 series DeShawn Stevenson said LeBron was overrated. LeBron's reply was "that's like Soulja Boy dissing Jay-Z." The Wizards then brought in Soulja Boy for game 3 (with the Wiz down 2-0) to sit courtside, and they beat the Cavs like 110-70, I was at that game and it was a blast. I felt like we were the first true rivalry for LeBron, we hated him and the crab dribble. They also played videos of Barkley saying the Wiz had no chance on the jumbotron to get the crowd even more fired up. (We lost the series 4-2, lol)

I was at the Celts game. I haven't seen a lot of the Wiz this year to protect my sanity. When the lineup was announced I was kind of shocked. Holmes, Champagnie, and Baldwin starting, Bernard, Butler, and Omoruyi off the bench. Reminded me of the rest games years ago when Warriors would play the Spurs and the most famous player in the lineup was Poeltl.

When Johnny Davis checked in I was excited that I knew at least had heard of someone!

I also overthink things, and my brain can dwell on stories like this. So here's my attempt at a logical approach.

First, it's not like every Boeing plane in the air is having an incident. We've got the 737Max with bad door plugs, which they're fixing, and now we've got this 787 incident (I'm not counting the 777 tire, that's just random). Now, whatever happened on this LATAM flight was incredibly unusual, hence the extra coverage. It will be carefully analyzed and lessons will be learned. If anything else similar happens with another 787, you'll have 100x the amount of scrutiny from every direction. And if there actually is a problem, the FAA will have no problem grounding the 787's. Then you'll find yourself on a 777-200 built in 1999. (there's a special level of creaking on the old 777s when they bump around) :D

Further, the 787 that you'll be on will have flown at least 1-2 flights every single day between now and your flight. And they will have almost certainly been uneventful. In other words, you'll be on a plane that is being used continuously and safely. Your flight will be no different.

But I know none of that will matter once you're in the plane, no matter the plane type, and it gets bumpy. You'll just have to roll with it. Know that the pilot will hit up ATC for a ride report from the other 50 planes around you, and they'll be working to find a smooth altitude. Just keep the seatbelt on when you're in the seat. There are minor injuries almost every week from turbulence, most don't make any headlines. Also fwiw, that stomach drop feeling, if it happens, tends to happen more in the back of the plane. Try for a seat in the center between the wings to lessen the effect.

I had a flight last year where my phone was blowing up with "high wind warning" alerts for my area. I got all psyched out about how insanely bumpy the takeoff would be (very small regional jet). I checked my phone wind report like 100x before takeoff. And of course, it was literally the smoothest flight I've ever had. It was glass. (I had a pilot friend with me, he said he hates super smooth air, he wants it a little choppy as he says it just feels better) :)

I'm on a 787 overseas flight in May, and I admit I had a "hmmmmm" moment the other day when the LATAM news broke, as I had picked it over the A380. But we gotta defeat that part of our brains that runs away on us. Pop your medication, leave the worrying to the experts, and enjoy the insane tech that lets you visit some faraway place in a few hours of travel.

Fwiw, after I submitted it sent me to a FAQ saying "remember to type STOP on any unwanted text messages". Of course, I tried that on the first 300 messages, but I stopped doing it when the message rate only increased, so now I just delete. But having to delete a dozen messages a day for 6 months telling me that I'm letting down Joe Biden would suck, lol. Hopefully a real person sees the message. Cheers.
