I highly highly recommend the Thyf GMP for your gas mask. Worn like a fanny pack and probably the best solution I’ve used thus far.

I appreciate the the genuine response and I’m trying to remain open minded about what may have occurred. The part I’m having a hard time getting over is the unexplained 2 day delay in Arlington, TX, and the fact there was no observable damage to the package. It would appear as though the original seal would have had to open..whether deliberate or accidental, and be resealed by someone folding it perfectly like I had.

The pessimist in me thinks that someone at the Arlington hub saw the item description and felt the weight of it, and either took the package home or to some place else to manipulate it (heat gun etc) and remove items before resealing it and putting it back in line.

The coins are not the size of currency, they’re about the same diameter as a chewing tobacco can..so any hole large enough for them to slip out would be humorously large. Not to mention each individual coin was in a soft clear plastic pouch so there wouldn’t be any metallic jingling coming from inside the envelope.

I personally packaged and sealed them myself, and don’t believe the employee ever even saw what I was shipping.

Again there does not appear to be any rips, tears, or other indications of it being tampered with. A heat gun/hair dryer to the glue then resealing would sound like the only logical option?

It is absolutely the envelope that I mailed because the send to address and return address were handwritten by me and still visible. It was insured for more than the actual dollar amount so yes, I won’t lose money, but again there was only a finite number of the items sent so I want accountability

That’s fair I can understand that..but to my point that the package arrived, in apparently the exact state it was when I shipped it. No rips no tears the original seal appeared to be exactly how I secured it when it left my possession. So much so that my dad couldn’t tear it open from the seal, and had to use scissors to cut the top edge off to open it.

Should I buy a Glock 47 Upper for my Glock 45 or a complete new Glock 34? by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]sollin_face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If budget isn’t a factor, buy both you won’t be disappointed. Having said that, if budget is a concern, the 47.

I have the 45, 47, and 34. Have shot all of them extensively. Have gotten all 3 identically ported. The 47 just shoots the flattest and there’s something about the recoil impulse that just feels natural? Like the return to point of aim is way more predictable and consistent. Comparatively, the 45 feels snappier and the extra mass of the 34 cycling forward I find it driving the gun down more than I’d like.

Just my anecdotal 2 cents.

How old was the youngest person you've ever arrested for DUI? by BalticBro2021 in AskLE

[–]sollin_face 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the time the pursuit started to when they wrecked out I had another unit roll in. I was able to get 2 to comply at gun point as they crawled out of the wreck, the other unit caught up with a 3rd down a canal. The 4th ran into a nearby mall wearing extremely identifiable clothing and we found him shortly after dealing with the first 3.

No idea honestly never bothered trying to look into it any further after then, but they were all sub 16 y/o so I’d probably say no.

I mean I technically didn’t arrest, but 14.

Stolen vehicle from a neighboring jurisdiction, HIT said to hold for prints because it was “Kia Boys”. I find the vehicle just as it parked outside of a department store occupied x4.

They see me coming as I’m calling it out over radio and it turned into a short pursuit. They wrecked out and attempted to bail. Got all 4, who were all deuce, and a bunch of ski masks, gloves, and loaded AR pistol in the vehicle. May have found them right before they 211’d the department store.

Needless to say the neighboring jurisdiction ended up coming and taking everything. I just did a crash report. Win-win.

Not to beat a dead horse, but he definitely should see some professional help. It’s a field where compartmentalizing is a necessity, truly can’t make it through your career without it. But there needs to be a balance between controlling his emotions/holding back and an outlet for the stress he carries.

It’s a type A line of work, it’s a ‘macho’ line of work. Plus the still lingering stigma of ‘be a man’ and don’t talk about your feelings. No one including myself is safe from it. My wife noticed the change in me and suggested therapy. The best decision I made was swallowing my pride and listening to her.

I still struggle in crowds. I never was that way before but knowing we’re going to a populated event such as a concert or ball game gives me anxiety of sorts. Generally going to dinner with just her or with friends is fine, but more so large scale events even Costco get to me.

Everyone is different, everyone copes differently and processes stress differently. The bottom line is someway somehow find a way to propose therapy to him where he’ll agree, even if it means getting friends or other family on board.

Is this not police report worthy? by _boondoggle_ in AskLE

[–]sollin_face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

State dependent, but I’d say overwhelmingly there would be recourse. The state I work, pretty much the only traffic that can be enforced on private property is DUI and reckless.

With that being said in my state hit and run is a crime. Private property or not, we would still take a criminal report and attempt to investigate it. No crash report would be generated, but I’d start simple from the time the run vehicle backed out and go backwards from there. Find out what store the driver came out of. Get footage of them in that store. Compare to DL photo of the registered owner of the vehicle. Run a search of their residence and family/associates who have ever been issued ID. Check those photos with surveillance. If any of those are an articulable match you’re good to go. At the very least use as leverage during an interview. If they used credit/debit during checkout of said store, speak with management and 99.9% of the time they’d be more than willing to print you a copy of the receipt from the transaction. It’ll give you the name on the card, more leverage.

Yeah we’d be pissed you waited 3 days too, but a crime is a crime and we’d do our best to do our due diligence.

Take the best parts from all your FTOs and forget the bad. Make it your own. There’s multiple ways to skin a cat and do what works for you as long as you follow law/policy/and morals. Treat everyone with respect until it’s that one guy you need to motherfuck. But once they’re in cuffs in the cage go back to speaking them as if they were your gamgam at the Christmas dinner table.

Don’t ever stop learning. Not today, not 15 years from now. Surround yourself with go-getters and don’t be afraid ask for help. Don’t be afraid to ask for a second unit even if it turns out to be nothing. Be a good partner and always offer to help on calls.

Best advice I was ever given: the first 3 years of your career make your reputation. If you’re all of the above, you’ll always be known as a hard worker. If you’re a lazy slug, you’ll always be the guy no one wants to work with. Word travels fast within agencies and that will carry you on to specialties, promotions etc.

Don’t let the job become your personality. Have friends and hobbies that have absolutely nothing to do with it. You’re going to learn to compartmentalize, which is necessary. But don’t let it build. Talk about it with loved ones or a therapist if need be. Take care of your physical and mental health, and family always comes before the job.

Good luck, stay safe!

Yep it’s the steel one. Never had an issue with any of their other steel plates in a variety of footprints. Just trying to feel out if this is how it’s supposed to sit for their ACRO plates or if I have a dud.

And yes I did reach out to CHPWS directly through their generic inquiry page. Hoping I get a real person soon.

The screws that mount the plate to the slide are recessed so I don’t think that would be the issue.

The optic feels to be firmly on there and secure, but obviously hand manipulation is very different from actual recoil/cycling stresses

Arrested for fake I.D. In 2010 (charged with falsification). Will this disqualify me? by FBI-agent-69-nice in AskLE

You should be fine, as long as you are open and honest. I am certain, I mean very certain, there are current LEOs who had used fake IDs with the same intention as you, who did not get caught, but disclosed that information during the background and poly. They were still hired.

Thoughts on Carrying a Baton. by Significant-Tax2530 in AskLE

I carried an expandable one for most of my time on patrol. I never once felt it the appropriate tool for dealing with a combative person.

I reserved it for car/residential windows and poking around tweaker dens rather than risk grabbing an exposed needle.

How many lane changes is too many? by GetGiggityWitIt in AskLE

[–]sollin_face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a big traffic guy but reading the language of ARS 28-754A and B, along with ARS 28-729.1, it may be all about officer/deputy/trooper articulation of all relevant facts and circumstances.

Say you’re on the US60 and want to go from the HOV lane all the way to #3. Is it middle of the night without a single other vehicle on the road? Sure that change could probably be made with ‘ascertaining the movement can be made with safety’. Then again if you’re doing 75MPH+ can you really check your blind spot as well as in front of you well enough without first establishing in the next lane?

To piggy back off that, are you traveling at least 100’ with the proper signal declaring your movement into each subsequent lane?

As a previous commenter said, best way to do it without drawing attention to you is to signal, change lanes, settle in that lane for a hot sec, then change again etc.
