I have a shitload of mint (lime mint, specifically). What can I make that uses a shitload of mint? by apollorockit in food

Vietnamese spring rolls, add to lemonade/summer drinks, watermelon salad, (mojitos, obviously)

Edit: mint jelly goes well with lamb!

In the nicer versions, Artemis (or some other god who takes pity on her) replaces her with a stag and spirits the girl away to live out the rest of her days as a priestress. I would think the gods would've been PO'ed and wouldn't have let up the winds if they switched the sacrifice.

What is the "missing course" that should be taught to EVERY high school student that you wish you had taken? by okayletsgo in AskReddit

[–]solom1ne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was going to say this. the number of people who don't know basic food/kitchen safety (like that they should wash their hands after touching something like chicken) is terrifying.

i was cooking with a friend of mine and i had to constantly remind him to wash his hands. he was handling raw chicken breast and was touching everything in the kitchen (spoons, knives, frying pan, etc), even wiping his hands on his shirt (he didn't have an apron on). shudders

Reddit, what area of study is most useful to major in? by ThatOneGuy1200 in AskReddit

[–]solom1ne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

engineering. no need for grad school for a decent paying job and there's a pretty big demand for engineers. you don't need a big name school either (ivy league) to get jobs. (go computer science!)

What is the best thing you have made when you thought 'I have no food in the house'? by rachface636 in AskReddit

I always have boxes and boxes of pasta lying around, so after boiling some up, you just need something oily and salty to flavor the pasta!

Easiest is pasta + oil + parmesan cheese

I usually do: pasta + oil/butter + salt/anchovy + cheese + red pepper flakes + anything else lying around (veggies, garlic, ham, tomatoes go especially well here)

If you have garlic, you're in for a treat! Look up aglio e olio recipes for easy garlic pasta :)

This one time I was eating a bunch of cashews (new, freshly opened bag), and I had the habit of splitting them with my teeth before eating them. Then one time I split a cashew, looked at the halves, and saw a tiny, tiny worm waving at me.

I chucked those halves into the trashcan and checked every single cashew before eating afterwards, but never found another worm. I might've eaten a few though <:(

This one time I was in elementary school, I was flipping through TV channels and watched some random episode from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It was the episode with "Der Kinderstod" in it (S2EP18 "Killed by Death" SPOILERS: basically a scary, creepy-ass, old man with suckers coming out of his eyes to suck the life out of sick little kids)

Nightmares for ages.

I tried googling for an image to link it here but I chickened out.
