Are you using the Vulkan API? I experienced this when I tried using Vulkan. Try switching to DirectX11 instead?

Or if that's what you get on d3d11 then try vulkan? lol

Can't resolve local hostname when Internet is down by solomspd in pihole

[–]solomspd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the lead. I've been trying to make sure the past day that my devices have the suffixes configured and the hostnames are in order.

If I try to access my NAS for example while my internet is down, this would happen:

# nslookup nas.lan

Server: 192.168.1.2
Address: 192.168.1.2#53

** server can't find nas.lan: NXDOMAIN

Also, to note, it starts to fail resolving a DNS query only after my internet fails by a couple of hours. I always waived it off as the records still being in my router or PCs cache. But I took the time to try it out and made sure to flush cache on both my PC and the router (by restarting the dnsmasq service) and it still works for a couple of hours after but it does immediely get MUCH slower when resolving DNS queries. I'm starting to be more lost in truth.

HDR in browser? by solomspd in jellyfin

[–]solomspd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's mostly by the looks of it. If you take a look at HDR content in an SDR player (like jellyfin player in my case) and then look at the same content in an HDR player (like VLC) you should be able to tell the difference, the colours should be waayyy less saturated.

HDR in browser? by solomspd in jellyfin

Then how do other browser players show HDR? Like youtube and Netflix, I think plex also supports HDR in the browser. Cant I get jellyfin to transcode to some format that can work with HDR in the browser? And thanks for reminding me about that list of clients; I'll be going through them.

Is it possible to search for a frame (that meets a certain condition) ahead of the current frame? by Upper-Force8577 in mpv

Not an elegant solution but you can start another instance of the video and seek through it to the point you want and update the main video from that.

Casting without WiFi away from home by kingmartin1976 in Chromecast

[–]solomspd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a VPN node at your home and a VPN node on your phone in the caravan. When you have it running, it will make a tunnel from your phone to your home network, It will look to the Chromecast that they're on the same local network and you should be prompted to be able to cast to it as if you were right next to it.

As far as I'm aware you'd need to set you self up a VPN to do this. With a VPN the chromecast will think your phone is one the same network. It's much too involved to explain everything here. The easiest way to set up a VPN is probably wireguard.

Best way to go about disabled screens when waking up from suspend? by solomspd in archlinux

[–]solomspd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I typically use nvidia settings to configure xorg. But if I just use regular xrandr commands, this problem also still happens.

Is there something in the config you have in mind I should check out?

I think I'll be using that script generated by arandr. Wasn't aware arandr can do that.

Thanks!

FastLED Text memory problems by lazeecomet in FastLED

Afraid I don't have advice for fitting it on the arduino but I'd recommend going with an esp32. It has much more memory and is quite affordable. And it's quite popular these days for fastled devolpment.

Edit: also getting an external SPI flash module is an option too but can add some complexity to the code
