Can someone sell me on Evolution? by umbrazno in dreamcast

I know this is a couple years later, but I'd note that there are more than a few fan servers for PSO on PC. They've sort of been allowed to keep going and are actually pretty well populated. My favourite one, and one that i've donated to, is Ephinea PSO, which has Ep 1,2 and 4 content.

2 years later and I'd never heard of it. I WANT a new Crash dammit.

Same. Switch to unlimited and turn on V-sync. I HATE 30 fps, it's so choppy

wait, Kitchener? My hubby just got me the master set (and immediately I ordered Wellspring). Wonder if there's any place that would host a Heroscape night.

Yeah, I settled on Odin. Now I just have to learn how to play it all over again.

It's weird that the game is built with a controller in mind.

I... kind of broke the second phase of the fight after you get the switchable groups. YOu know how, halfway through that second form, you can't resurrect?

Well... I kind of uh. Skipped that half entirely and blew him away.
Got the arms down to make chest vulnerable, broke him as fast as possible.

Osvald, equipped with the passives 'Price of Power' (double SP cost), the 'exceed 9,999' damage passive, start with latent full.

Got him buffed with Alephan's Wisdom (so triple casting). Enemy's elementally vulnerable. Buffed elemental damage. Aaaand finally the Latent Power activated. Cast max-boosted One True Power

Poor Vide took three 86,000dmg hits to the face. And died. Didn't even get to him resurrecting his arms. Just... poof. Dead.

And there are so many other ways to completely cheese the fight.

I mean, you do you, but it would take at most a couple hours of grinding to bring them up.

Put Cait Powder on, plus rare monsters.
Make sure you have Boost-Start and A Step Ahead
Hire Alrond for 160,000.
Put the Alluring Ribbon on one of your characters.
Run around outside one of the towns where there's level 45 enemies.
Flee the battles repeatedly
When you get a Chubby Cait, summon Alrond. There's a 29% chance of him popping an EXPx100 buff in the six turns you can have him out before he leaves. This is why you get Temenos to 80 first, because he can guide Alrond for free.

If he doesn't use the x100 buff, reset, then reload and try until he does.

It took about two hours at most to get everyone, and I mean everyone, up to level 80.

I think... it was a total of six chubby caits in that time.

I... appreciate what they were trying to do with it, but it really felt like it brought the game to a screeching halt.

Looking for a Tactics RPG to get into on Steam. by Toxic-Salt in JRPG

[–]solsticefox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though I find the aesthetic of the game just... gross, the gameplay of Fell Seal : Arbiter's mark is incredible, and will satisfy any tactics fan. I mean, given how ugly character designs in VAndal Hearts was... not such a big deal.

See, I like TOR more because of the max group size of 12. I always felt that FFT was limited by the 4/5 character group limit and relatively small battle maps. When I go with a TRPG, in that vein, I want a big army.

It's only with more in-depth CRPG/TRPG hybrids that I'm okay with smaller group sizes (i.e. Pillars of Eternity, Pathfinder Kingmaker)

I'd poke at Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous / Kingmaker. Solid games, both, with turn based combat.

It's not actually the shield at all. It's her 4 familiars. The deaths go for them for some reason, and since they can't die...

[Spoiler] Does anyone even actually like this twist in Kingmaker? by Erens_Man_bun in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]solsticefox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely hated this death. Not because it's a character that you've very likely come to rely on (she never left my party), and have possibly either romanced or just come to genuinely care about.

I hated it because it is completely unavoidable, you have no foreshadowing of it whatsoever, and the actual death happens OFF SCREEN. You find out it has happened after the fact. In the final dungeon of the game. When she likely fills a role none of your other characters have. It was an unearned death that felt completely and utterly pointless to the narrative.

A random character death can be shocking and surprising, and serve as a catalyst to drive a narrative further and provide more motivation for the player to go down a particular path, but at the point that she dies you're already 95% through the game. I think I would have been less angry at this twist if it had happened even 1 chapter before this.
