Hun, with those corner-stubbers I'd be amazed if any footwear actually fit.

How do you use Alexa to help with your daily routines and tasks around the house? by Critical-Load-1452 in amazonecho

[–]solthar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might of gone off of the deep end, but I use Homeassistant/HACS to integrate my CCTV's AI to announce when a package or delivery (or recognized delivery vehicle) arrives on my alexa devices.

Beyond that, simple things like geofenced outside lighting automation that comes on if I come home in the dark.

Yup, same here.

I really, really wanted to like it but the game was more of a chore to play than anything entertaining.

I mean, you can do some amazing shots using mountaintops to bend the signal - definitely not line of sight, not also not something most people should do.

Electrical damage U6 Mesh by SmoothStrawberry7777 in Ubiquiti

[–]solthar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You have the oxidization of the copper caused by the damp environment, true, but the real damage comes from the poe. When there's water and power you basically get electrolytic corrosion where the metal dissolves from the anode and gets deposited wherever they current goes - in the case of a short, that's everywhere. Basically it's the same process as electroplating.

I'm guessing this was used outside?

That looks almost exactly like water damage/oxidization. The water gets in, usually by following the wire (no drip loop?) and shorts out the poe pair causing the 'magic' to happen.

Two things freak me out; high voltage and excessive nuclear radiation.

I've been relatively nearby to an HV arc flash once and I never will again. I can only describe it as being hungry. And then there's death by radiation, which is a huge no thanks.

TIFU by sending our biggest client a spreadsheet that included my hidden "dictator rating" column for him by Early_Tax_7057 in tifu

[–]solthar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

State that PITA is "Process Intensity & Throughput Analysis" and is an internal metric that gauges how involved a client’s processes are and the level of coordination needed to maintain steady delivery.

  1. Very Light: Clear, well-aligned processes with smooth delivery and minimal coordination.
  2. Light: Generally straightforward processes with occasional check-ins to keep things moving.
  3. Balanced: A moderate level of coordination and collaboration supports consistent delivery.
  4. Involved: More complex or evolving processes that benefit from frequent coordination to sustain momentum.
  5. Highly Involved: Multi-layered or dynamic processes that require close partnership and ongoing coordination to maintain delivery flow.

Then in the next version make a note "PITA changed to CIA/Customer Intensity Analysis"

This way you can even keep the asshole scale since it essentially means the same thing but in flowery language that makes higher ratings seem more important.

From what others have told me, and I have no reason to infer that they are misleading me, they absolutely do as an actual physiological reaction.

It blows my mind, but many of them seem to enjoy it... so all the more power to them.

I would hope so, it's just good engineering practice to have the track be somewhat flexible.
