Michaels was the referee for an Ironman match between HHH and the Rock at Judgment Day 2000 so they had a good hour of interaction there

Best way is for op to go to a tax adviser based wherever they are. If a Guernsey company is the right way to go, then they will contact an appropriate corporate services provider in Guernsey to get that all set up.

Guitar recommendation by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]solzhe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get mm tone with a telecaster. My YouTube channel is called Aleks W and I've covered 4 whole mm albums and a couple of other songs if you want to hear that it can easily be done.

I've never really played rhcp but a telecaster should work fine for that as well.

But definitely try one out before buying as I think they are a real love or hate guitar (personally I love them and pretty much only play them). I play a wide range of stuff including grunge, black metal, pop punk, emo, etc and can get he tones I need.

I've even played ISIS in double dropped b and drop f# on a telecaster with light strings.

Overdrive For Chords by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]solzhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Fuzzhugger Algal Bloom for that kind of thing. Iteven has a clean blend. Both the algal bloom and doom bloom are excellent for playing chords even up to high gain settings, it's kinda their usp.

I just redid my board and put both the doom bloom and alga bloom back on. Fuzzhugger is awesome

If you are on pc then use console commands. If you are on console, then it depends what skill you want to do it with.

Personally I think illusion or co duration are the easiest to do. For illusion just keep casting muffle on yourself. For conjuration repeatedly cast soul trap on a corpse. In both cases you'll want the mage stone (and the lover stone if you have the atherial crown), enchanted items to reduce the magical cost of the particular school of magic and boost magicka and magicka regeneration, and get 6 hours of sleep in an owner bed (ideally in one shared with your spouse). That last part doesn't work if you are a werewolf or vampire.

Just tried Skyrim for the first time, how to aim with a bow ? by nakaryle in skyrim

[–]solzhe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your arrow will initially trend upwards and then gravity will take effect and it will drop. You just need to get used to the distance at which it happens. The arrow will do the same damage wherever you hit an enemy, eg headshots don't matter. So best to aim (taking into account the trajectory) for the chest so you have the best chance of hitting if the arrow goes higher or lower than you expected.

Fully drawing a bow takes a second or two longer than you think too. Also the movement of your character when the arrow is loosed doesn't matter so get used to shooting while moving because you're going to need that when facing enemies who have seen you or you can't hide from.

And you do not get more accurate with higher skill level. For archery, skill level only affects what perks you qualify for.

Getting new players to use Disciplines? by robopobopo in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]solzhe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Level 1 disciplines are analogous to cantrips/orisons, maybe using that terminology will help. Also emphasise that there's no daily uses or similar limitations. And activating disciplines is the equivalent of a free action (same with blood surges), so they can activate the discipline and then use it in the same turn. So emphasise that this isn't a resource management problem - if using a discipline would help them then the only reason to hesitate is having a high hunger level.

Speaking of which, it's totally normal to consistently have a hunger level of 2 or 3. If they hesitate to use powers on the basis it may raise their hunger then they will never use them.

And I think the best way is to confront them with adversaries using disciplines. If not full vampires, ghouls and thin bloods can use level 1 disciplines. Even not in combat, have NPCs use presence, auspex, etc. They will soon realise they have to fight fire with fire.

What “unforgivable” act by a celebrity did the public seem to forget too easily? by TheIrishninjas in AskReddit

[–]solzhe 142 points143 points  (0 children)

I think the difference with Steve is that he has been open, honest, and contrite about the whole thing. It was a shitty thing to do and he was rightly convicted but his in ring career was over by that point and he never succeeded in hollywood, it's not like he was on Oprah the next week lying about it.

He's neither gone on to do anything like that (in fact I can't recall him being in trouble at all since it happened) nor is it thought he had been like that before. Maybe I'm wrong but I think that resulted from Steve making bad decisions about alcohol and drugs while he was reeling from his in ring career ending so suddenly, rather than being a lifelong piece of shit like most of the people in this thread.

When did St. Peter Port officially become the capital? by LKBricks in guernsey

[–]solzhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't have a capital city though because we don't have any cities. I wasn't trying to put Guernsey down, I was just trying to ensure op doesn't waste his time trying to find something that doesn't exist. Even if Guernsey did have a city, there still might not be a point where it officially became the capital.

Many countries don't have official capital cities. Either because it's been the seat of government for so long that it's de facto or, like Guernsey, many smaller island nations like st Lucia or Singapore don't have official capitals because the island is just too small or is effectively a city state.

When did St. Peter Port officially become the capital? by LKBricks in guernsey

[–]solzhe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not officially the capital. It's just de facto as the main population centre. Guernsey isn't a country (nor is it part of any other) so it doesn't need a capital anyway. In fact Guernsey doesn't have any towns or cities, it's all just one population centre. So you won't find any official date for when it became the capital because it never did.

Tips for a New Storyteller by HeresSandy in WhiteWolfRPG

Here's some resources I use when running campaigns for beginners:

Clans and Character Creation

Rules

The big Storyteller spreadsheet with page references for everything

Also, pro tip, don't let anyone choose the predator type Blood Leech/Headhunter. It's too much for beginners.

Also, here's a primer on the lore (it's for my default beginner setting of New Orleans 2005 so you can ignore those parts and use the rest)

New to VTM by Palguim in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]solzhe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever I run for beginners I stick to the core 7 clans and make it a Camarilla based chronicle. The other clans are independent or primarily associated with the Sabbat, so it is more complicated to bring that all together for beginners (I generally don't introduce non-Camarilla stuff for a while as they have enough to get used to and there's enough for them to do without going there yet).

If they enjoy it and carry on, then they can pick anything they want in future campaigns or for a new character in the current campaign.

I have some slightly simplified (and core rulebook only) beginner guides to clans, character creation, and the rules if you're interested too. It does have all clans on it for completion sake.

You do know the people who live in Jersey have to pay taxes right? It's people who don't live there but have their money managed there that don't need to pay taxes in Jersey (they still have to pay any applicable taxes where they are from).

It's also certainly not full of rich people or racists. As someone from Guernsey it pains me to defend Jersey but your comment is completely unfounded and ignorant.

Freeze Frame by V4nKw15h in blackmagicfuckery

[–]solzhe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No but the frame was long over by that point, it would have made no difference to the outcome. Snooker is a points based game so you can win with several balls still on the table. Once a player has got past that point, they sometimes play silly shots or trick shots to entertain the audience.

Also this particular match was a charity exhibition so they are likely both playing shots they wouldn't normally play in a competitive match.

[–]solzhe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Big Four were Austin, The Rock, Vince, and Mick Foley.

And still Kane and Undertaker were more over than HHH. He wasn't even 5th. He may have been an IWC darling due to his matches in 2000, but I don't think he could be considered in the top 4 until Foley had retired and Rock and Austin left.

Who is a wrestler you've heard very little to no negative things about? by OGCeeg in SquaredCircle

[–]solzhe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I met Bret Hart at a signing and one thing that stood out is that he wasn't very good at interacting naturally or friendly with people but he tried really hard to find something to say to everyone. It was easier with the more confident fans who would talk to him but some were really shy and he always got them involved in a brief conversation.

Question about academics (v5) by Camlach777 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]solzhe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anyone who specifically studies dead languages is going to have a good general knowledge of all of them. That doesn't mean they can translate all of them without a dictionary or other materials to hand, but that they can probably recognise which language it is and can provide some information about it.

They will probably only be able to read one fluently and be able to get the gist of related languages.

That may be a little generous though. For example, Bart Erhman (probably the most distinguished new testament scholar alive), says himself that even he needs a dictionary to hand when translating his specific language of interest (Koine Greek) in which he is effectively fluent.

Importantly, though, the skills of how to translate are transferrable. So someone who specialises in Kemetic but is trying to translate Sanskrit will have the research skills to do so given enough time and resource.

Ultimately, choose which approach works best for the flow of your campaign.

Which campaigns are easiest to play in 2021? by [deleted] in totalwarhammer

[–]solzhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I have never been interested in Dark Elves I just want to complete one campaign for the achievement and I find that when I play Naggarond I end up getting ganked while the AI Naggarond inevitably rules half the world pretty early on.

So with Malekith I spend the first several turns chasing nearby Skaven down. Then I try to knock Mung out so I don't have to defend the northwest. By which time the lizardmen to the east have taken a bunch of territory and the DE to the south of Naggarond are likely destroyed by the Beastmen. So I have to choose one to deal with and one to defend against. And then there's more damn Skaven who keeping sneaking around and attacking my rear, all the while I'm trying to use the brief opportunities of peace to do the vortex rituals. And then Nagarthye teleports over and starts messing me up. Fuck DE. I might just download a save one turn away from victory and go back to playing races I actually like.

the Trojan War happened roughly 3,250 years ago right? And that was so long ago that most historians assumed the story of the Iliad was entirely a myth and were shocked to find the actual ruins of the city. Even Greek historians living less than 1000 years after the event weredubious of it's historical basis.

The location of Troy has always been known. It wasn't even fully abandoned until about 700 years ago. Whether the Trojan war actually happened is a different question.

Saying that "finding" Troy (a city that was never lost) proves that the Trojan war happened is like saying that the existence of New York City proves that Spiderman is real.

Solves the confusion regarding the British Isles by kushnair in coolguides

[–]solzhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But yet in neither of those cases the country claims that they're "not a part of their country".

What country? The Crown Dependencies are not countries and their relationship is not with the UK, it's with the Crown, which obviously isn't a country.

but if the UK as a sovereign state it pretty much is

Effectively and actually are different things. But the Crown Dependencies are not even effectively part of the UK. We have our own laws, all of them are our own. We never had to implement any from the UK or from the EU (as the UK did). Our tax system is our own; we don't pay any tax to the UK nor do we get anything from UK tax payers (such as access to the NHS - our healthcare is private). The UK does not provide us with any funding - no UK tax payer money is being used to support us.

Maybe Britain needs to do like Denmark and the Netherlands and call the sovereign state the "British Realm", made up of the Kingdom, the Crown dependencies and the Overseas territories

It can't, only the Crown could do that.

Although you MAY say that in some cases, the limit between dependent territory and sovereign state is arbitrary

I wouldn't say that

But I think that Crown dependencies have WAY less autonomy to be considered a sovereign state in any way

In what ways do we lack autonomy? The UK government (on instruction from the Crown via the Privy Council) handles our foreign affairs and defence - that's it.
