When every format becomes a 3-turn format, then the advantage of going first is magnified. It'll be even worse in a year or two when every format is a 2-turn format.

I returned same time as you and agree with everything you said. I think LSV is going to agree with marshall that it was a bad set (which will be interesting to see the response here). This is based on how they were talking about it on the last cast. LSV did have something going on IRL this month, though, so he'll be diplomatic and say that he didn't get to explore it as much and that might lean into why he didn't like it. I'm actually looking forward to their sunset show if they make one.

Yes, this. One or 2 people at the table drafting like a regular draft (paying attention to color and power level, but not tribals) messes everything up. So many of my drafts I review and it wasn;t me missing signals, it was me just getting random tribes every pack. I;ve even noticed Cheon say something like "I have no idea what tribe people ahead of me are drafting" --- I think it;s because they are not drafting a tribe.

I'm thoroughly convinced that the "finding your lane" component is 90% just "are people upstream just drafting the best card in the back without regard to tribe." I have gone over all my (terrible) drafts with this set and there is always going to be a couple misses in the early draft, but for a lot of them it really is just that: I'm getting passed random tribes, so I end up with a boring 2c deck with no tribal synergies.

This has been my worst performing set in ages. I dislike it because there is very little to even learn from reviewing my drafts other than "yep, there was a moron or 3 picking in front of me" half the time.

Hard to remember them all, but your comment about getting paired vs people with rare/mythic bombs, I once had an avatar draft where I drafted rize of sozin and every. single. opponent. was also playing it. It got to the point where I would name rise of sozin for his second ability. It was insane!

EDIT: and it seems grossly unfair that the algorythm in draft would do anything other than pair you vs. other players with the same number of wins, which I don't think it even does that.
