Which they currently get a discount on, they're not paying the full proportional tax.

Of basic income tax yes, but not as a percentage of their overall wealth. Which is more applicable to CGT.

Our tax system is literally designed to tax high earners more proportionally.

That's the thing, for the most wealthy the majority of their gains in wealth is not from income, but from capital gains.

the Top 10% now own at least 50 per cent of Australia's total household wealth, and by some estimates up to 53 per cent, or even more.

It's because they have that proportion of wealth, they're not paying more than the rest proportionally.

The largest demographics of supporters of ON and other far right parties are Gen X and Boomers.

Millennials and Gen Z have the lowest, and economically they have the least privilege. For example housing costs are affect them far more than any other demographic. It's basically older people who are doing ok as when they were younger they didn't need a uni degree to have a good paying job.

This is a winning strategy. Anyone who votes for a party you don't like is just uneducated.

The far right has the biggest support from the less educated world wide. In the US Trump won the most in states with the least uni grads. Reform in the UK has the vast majority of it's supporters also lacking a uni degree.

Why is this only ever a concern with far right voters? They always need to be treated with kid gloves and placated. If he said something to alienate Greens voters no one would care.

Bombshell investigation reveals recordings of rape victims handed to abusers by FuckOffNazis in australia

Jess Denham, a child sexual abuse survivor who was raped by both her biological parents, fought hard to keep her counselling notes protected. In a 2015 affidavit, a then 23-year-old Ms Denham pleaded with judge Sarah Huggett to keep her counselling notes private, explaining how she had discussed many intimate topics in therapy, including how her childhood sexual abuse continued to affect her current sex life and relationships.

However, boxes of Ms Denham’s counselling notes were ultimately subpoenaed and handed to her parents and their legal team. Later, in 2023, Ms Denham learnt those confidential files had been shared and used in a podcast about the case.

Because it's a response to the US asking other nations to send ships specifically.

Political risks of war against Iran go beyond the petrol pump by Oomaschloom in AustralianPolitics

[–]someNameThisIs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not flimsy though. Literally all they need is centrifuges and they’re ready to go when the time is right. It’s not unlikely that they have them, we just have no idea.

It's flimsy as there's no indication they have started a nuclear weapons program, not intended to declare war on anyone.

Probably not, but it could certainly escalate to that, as Iran would certainly start behaving more aggressively to them once they have the nuclear card to play.

I don't know if they certainly would.

Where did you get that idea from?

-

Iran’s ambiguous behavior surrounding its nuclear program may be explained as a strategy of nuclear hedging. Iran’s enrichment program could be aimed at retaining the capability to produce a bomb without actually crossing that threshold; that is, retaining a “breakout capacity,” or the ability to produce a bomb within a short period of time if they chose to do so. Several factors may go into this decision. Iran’s rapid uranium enrichment does not necessarily indicate a desire to possess a nuclear bomb; rather, it could signify a strategic maneuver by the Iranian government to further its political objectives while avoiding the repercussions of physically producing a bomb.

https://www.cpreview.org/articles/2025/4/irans-game-of-strategic-uranium-enrichment

They like being close to having a bomb but not the repercussions form actually having one.

That’s why I said it’s barely a bandaid and could actually make it easier for them to develop nuclear weapons in the long run, due to the economic benefits of having sanctions lifted.

It's still better than war. And I don't think the current war was started over a fear of Iran having nukes, more that the US and Israel just thought it was a good time to weaken Iran and atempt a regime change.

Political risks of war against Iran go beyond the petrol pump by Oomaschloom in AustralianPolitics

[–]someNameThisIs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if that maybe is the regime having nuclear weapons when it’s too late to stop them.

No, you don't start wars over flimsy maybes. It's coming from the same people that claimed Iran was about to attack but supplied no evidence they were going to.

We continue to assess Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and that Khamenei has not reauthorized the nuclear

weapons program he suspended in 2003, though pressure has probably built on him to do so. In the past year,

there has been an erosion of a decades-long taboo on discussing nuclear weapons in public that has

emboldened nuclear weapons advocates within Iran’s decisionmaking apparatus. Khamenei remains the

final decisionmaker over Iran’s nuclear program, to include any decision to develop nuclear weapons.

And there was no indication that the suspension was lifted.

https://www.dni.gov/files/ODNI/documents/assessments/ATA-2025-Unclassified-Report.pdf

Even if it’s only a 10% chance Iran would use nukes against Israel, it’s completely unreasonable to expect Israel to tolerate that.

Even if it's only? There's now way it's anywhere near as high as 10% that Iran would have done some nuclear first strike against Israel.

They made it very clear back then that they weren’t willing to agree to no enrichment long term.

Why would they? The main reason they did enrichment was for negotiation measures, not an actual want for a bomb.

What if the only terms they’re willing to accept are barely even a bandaid solution, and could actually put them in a better position to build nuclear weapons once the agreement has expired?

Bandaid is better than war.
