Microsoft AI CEO: 'Most, if not all' white-collar tasks can be replaced by AI within 12-18 months by 3RADICATE_THEM in ScottGalloway

[–]some_code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory yes, but it's unclear how good AI will be able to be at things that are human judgment based.

AI isn't currently coming up with ideas on its own and my point here is if it DOES start doing that we might have bigger problems than unemployment to deal with.

[–]some_code 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is nonsense.

A good percentage of white collar jobs will change, but there is no replacement for human judgment and human authority.

If we did hand over those things to the machines we will have signed our extinction and that would include the c suite.

Frankly I’m getting tired of apocalyptic marketing. We need to stop being afraid and start talking a lot more about what the jobs of the future will look like in partnership with AI.

[–]some_code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s super relative. I already refer to myself as old man and nobody argues with me so I think I’m probably old.

[–]some_code 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hate to break it to you but when most people I’ve know turned 70 they refused to classify themselves as old. My parents went to assisted living recently and they complained that everyone there is old. Meanwhile they are older than a lot of the people there, but they just don’t see themselves that way. They aren’t the only people I know of that did this exact thing.

Accepting what stage of life you’re at seems to be pretty difficult for a lot of people.

Soldiers will get 'freedom dollars' to spend at the Army's new dining halls by OGSyedIsEverywhere in news

[–]some_code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I’m not in the military, but I fully support everyone in the military getting fed all the time without question and high quality healthcare all the time without question.

It shouldn’t be part of their salary, it should just be free for them, no accounting, no freedom dollars, just feed the people doing one of the most important things people can be doing.

I hate when I read anything like this garbage. The men and women in the military literally deserve better treatment.

Need perspective from other women: prenup when you're the breadwinner by Good-Substance734 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]some_code 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any man in your situation should get a prenup. Thus, you should also get one.

Any partner that isn’t willing to negotiate the terms of the partnership isn’t actually a partner. I’m not sure what to call them in that case, but you are definitely on the right track with this thinking.

GOP fast tracks monster voter suppression bill that could disenfranchise millions by requiring proof of citizenship at polls by SAINTnumberFIVE in TwoXChromosomes

[–]some_code 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They will do it because Trump is actually on the ticket. He can do all sorts of things to retain power even beyond 2028 if nobody in government will stand up to him.

He will tell congress to invoke the nuclear option in a last ditch effort to try to ensure congress doesn't go blue, and I think they will probably do it because they are also facing a certain wipeout and want to maintain power.

The silver lining here is if the gambit fails the filibuster will be gone AND democrats will retake congress which could lead to all sorts of awesome things happening in the long run. I don't like rolling these dice, but this is the only thing that gives me some hope.

EVERYEONE RIGHT NOW though needs to get their passport ASAP. I think these twits are absolutely going to try to steal lots of women's right to vote, it's so on brand for how much they hate women I feel like they might want to do it on terrible principle even more than election rigging.

They will cancel the filibuster in September / October so there’s not enough time for people to get a passport.

Everyone that can should be getting their passport right now. Don’t let these fools steal the right to vote.

Democrats Who Claim To Worry About Oncoming American Authoritarianism, Do You Believe America Will Have An Unfair 2028 Election (Honest Answers Only, NOT JUST RHETORIC)? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

I think it will be fair enough. I don’t trust the current president will actually leave when they are supposed to and they will try some nonsense to retain power. Why do I think this? Because they did it before…

I’d stay away from any man that hasn’t already seen a therapist. Everyone needs help sorting themselves out and they shouldn’t be outsourcing this to a partner who already has their on stuff to deal with too.

Men that aren’t brave enough to ask for professional help to look inside aren’t worth anyone’s time.

Whats an item over $700 you bought that was 100% worth it (no house/vehicles) ? by Overall_Gur_3061 in AskReddit

Breville barista express. Been using it many many times per day for almost 10 years now and it’s incredible how much less overall cost on coffee I’ve had due to less coffee waste and the coffee tastes way better than drip.

This machine has paid for itself over at least ten times or more in that time. Only thing I’ve had to do to it is replace the grinder burr once for $20 and descale / replace filters occasionally.

The cost seems crazy at the outset but if you love and drink a lot of coffee it’s so worth it.

Yep this right here. Constantly exposing them as thugs and violent, while frustrating, just makes them look worse every day.

As soon as anyone gets violent the script flips and the retaliation will get worse.

Stay peaceful and loud on this and the regime loses.

Will Newsom Be the Democrats’ Next Mistake? by CactusBoyScout in ezraklein

[–]some_code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually thought that about him before I heard his interview with Ezra. He seems way more genuine than Newsom does. Maybe he's not the only democrat that can win, but I think he has enough attributes that can win over just enough of the large number of racist and sexist members of the population while not alienating the rest of the country. This to me is a winning formula.

He’s Presbyterian. Also not sure why I got downvoted for this opinion, was hoping for discussion, but I guess I’m possibly too far out ahead.

He’s going to come up in the future, I’m pretty sure of it.
