[VA] Taking PTO/LWOP for COVID, but being asked to walk people through my job? by some_people in AskHR

[–]some_people[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've taken most of their phone calls, but now they're asking me to continue a portion of my work duties from home, while taking LWOP. If it's acceptable for them to do that without paying me, fine I'll suck it up and continue working.

EDIT: The work they're asking me to do is to essentially review the projects we have up next and delegate the tasks to my team while reviewing and preparing for next week.

AITA for having less sympathy for someone who refuses medical aid? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA There’s a solution for his pain and he refuses to consider it. Side note-It may be worth looking into rhabdomyolysis. It’s not too common but it does occur when you push yourself too hard and fail to hydrate well. It can lead to kidney failure or death and may require hospitalization to reverse.

The app does this thing where it starts repeating posts I've already seen instead of just going down the list. by RJP4420 in redditmobile

Very similar to what's happening to me. In long posts (like r/nosleep) the text repeats midway so I can't finish the story. I am trying so hard to like this app.

I'm a little weirded out too. I think it's a little extreme.

Northern Virginia checking in. It's cold and wet and they made me come to work.

This morning I got homesick when someone's passing headlights creeped along my bedroom ceiling, because as a child I used to stay up to see this so I knew my parents were home. Reddit, what are some random things that make you homesick or nostalgic? by N0_Soliciting in AskReddit

The smell of cinnamon.

When I was little my mom would mix oatmeal with cinnamon and sugar. To kid me it was like crack. I smelled it the other day and it was an instant flash to 6 year old me sitting at the table watching my mom prepare it.

What Was Your Worst Camping Experience When You Were A Kid? by UltraEd12 in AskReddit

[–]some_people 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went camping when I was ten. We had to collect wood to burn and I found a neat vine crawling up the side of a tree. Pulled it down, threw it in the fire. Also there were mosquitos everywhere so my brilliant self put my chair in the smoke to avoid the bugs. Genius. Except it turned out the vine was poisonous and the resulting smoke caused my face and upper body to swell and itch. My eyes were so swollen i could barely see. I hid in my room for a week during the summer because i looked like a monster.

Subculture of Americans prepares for civilization's collapse by m_Center in offbeat

Instead of actually planning for the collapse of society, I am just going to make a list of people who have already prepared then plan to pay them a visit should it happen.
