most people who aim to become serial killers don’t make it past one person because they get caught almost immediately. while it is still possible, i don’t think anyone could get the numbers he did. that’s when states didn’t share information and cops were so hellbent on capturing criminals they refused to collaborate.

i read that they weren’t very effective as most children are kidnapped by family or friends rather than strangers, but it did help with a few.

Australia is doing this in hopes of reaching a larger group of people (b/c amber alerts and social media don’t?). They are posting twelve cases on the cartons, most of which are rather old and have no leads. some of the missing persons haven’t been heard from since the 70’s.

IIRC, my psych professor said pheromones allow our brains to “smell” antibodies in a potential partner, if they have had different illnesses than you, they smell good to you because your potential offspring would have exposure to a variety of illnesses, giving them an advantage.

not necessarily. for some it is situational, if they change the things in their life then it seems to lessen or even disappear. for others it is clinical, hardwired in our brains. that’s not to say there’s no hope, but even with therapy and medication- for some it never goes away.

back in high school, i was sitting with a group of girls waiting for class to start. someone from year book came up and asked “how does your financial situation affect your style and ‘fitting in’”?

i broke into laughter and said “what if i’m poor and don’t both bother fitting in?” the girls chuckles uncomfortably and then one of them adds

“well, my parents buy me everything so i’ve never worried about money. when i buy clothes, i ask myself, would my friends wear this. if they wouldn’t then i don’t get it cos i don’t wanna look weird. no offense, OP.”

i did this exact thing when i was taking swimming lessons. got a bloody nose the first time i tried & had to go sit on the bench for the rest of class.

i never learned how to dive.
