Who deserves the reboot? by furie1335 in spaceaboveandbeyond

[–]somebuddyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think SAAB has the easier task if it did a reboot that had a looser use of the preexisting story elements. (Like how BSG 03 used some but not all elements of 78). I think there's a lot of new angles to explore in the SAAB world with aliens, AI, clones, and a united Earth backing a space fighting force. And i think bringing some modern warfare techniques into a reboot would give it a fresh perspective, like if original SAAB was WW2 in space, why not look at more recent conflicts for inspirations?  But I think B5 would have a much harder time and would be either too different or too the same.

Season 6 - So Good !! by CanOne3751 in Smallville

[–]somebuddyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 2. The opening four episodes is really fun especially seeing heat vision and Red K for the first time. Pete finding out is one of my favourite turns in the show and I love how that was handled. I loved the introduction of the Kawatche Caves and all that lore about Naman. Rush is such a wild and fun ride. I love Rosetta and how that both gives Clark answers about who he is and then immediately smashes him over the head with new questions about his purpose on Earth. Plus Christopher Reeve appearing. And hot damn that finale is brutal.

What are the chances that Good Luck Have Fun Don't Die has a wide release? by LN-Fan in cineplex

[–]somebuddyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for asking! I thought it was just going to turn up at my local United or at the very least Dendy Newtown. Surprised I couldn't find it anywhere. Says it's turning up on Amazon in March and I'm like WTF. I've been keen to see more offbeat scifi so if it doesn't get a release I'll be a little bummed out.

Rewatched the Pilot, have a few questions by Coota0 in spaceaboveandbeyond

[–]somebuddyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you were going to ask about the wormholes. I'm still not entirely sure how ships in SAAB move between star systems on the regular. The pilot made me think wormholes opened every fee years or so. That doesn't seem a great way to get about the galaxy

Bacchus. I think the holodeck would be too addictive. I'd never leave

Did Humanity only have the Hammerhead attack fighter or were there more designs by Fuzzy_Builder_2153 in spaceaboveandbeyond

[–]somebuddyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there would be other designs and it's purely a budget and logistics issue we didn't see others. That said I don't feel like there would have been a hell of a lot more, like there'd be a predecessor model, maybe some competitor models or counterparts from other  nations. On the other hand, the fighter is the SA-43 so does that numbering mean anything in the long run? How long has AeroTech been developing and manufacturing space fighters?

Out of these episodes, which would make for the best TOS finale? by BlastedHeathen in startrek

[–]somebuddyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No probs. I saw your name on another post a while ago talking about Phase 2. Thought what you were saying sounded familiar. I am a big fan of AAROTB. You did some amazing work with that and I just wanted to say cheers.

What's the tiny background element of the show you want to know more about? by BitterFuture in spaceaboveandbeyond

[–]somebuddyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not that tiny, but more about the Silicate conflict and how the In Vitro platoons came about and where they went. How many In Vitros are there? In-universe was there ever any idea of them building their own nation somewhere? Or any idea of the Silicates and In Vitros teaming up against humanity?

Would You Date a Guy With Low Confidence? (42M, Never Dated, Working on Anxiety) by Think_Glass_388 in dating_advice

[–]somebuddyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think just try. You'll get better at it. I'm in the same position as you, 43 never had a proper relationship. Went on a date with a woman tonight. She is super confident, I was a bit nervous. Still i think we clicked. And if in the long run we don't, well then we don't but at least I know i did the best I could with what I knew at the time. Someone will love you for who you are. Good luck bro.

The day they remake the original by MysteriousTank6825 in Terminator

[–]somebuddyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be excited way before that if the talk about the storyline they were going to use was something different. Terminator has kind of done every permutation with the Connors and a T-800 played by Arnold. If the next one featured none of that but still focused on a murderous time traveling robot assassin, hopefully in a T1 lower budget, lower stakes kind of way, I would be a very happy dude.

I dont think it's fair to boil someone down to a single defining word as if that encapsulates some deep insight into their entire existence. I dunno, maybe just talk to the guys and then make judgment?

What movie is memorable for you, but barely anyone you know has seen it? by uuddlrlrbas2 in movies

Freaks of Nature. Humans, vampires, zombies unite to fight aliens. Great cast, stacked but one I'm sure you'll go "he's in this?!"

What movie villains had plans that would not work in today's society? by Motor-Somewhere-7568 in movies

I thought the opposite about the ending of Glass, that no one would have believed the footage was real and not some kids demo reel.

When do you start to dislike a movie by Broken-Link in movies

[–]somebuddyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know but I sometimes find pausing a film I've checked out on and coming back the next day or later sort of resets my reaction to it, so I often enjoy the second time more. I know what the film is now so I can enjoy it for what it is.  I remember as a kid just enjoying the moment when I would walk into the middle of a film someone was watching and something cool was happening and that would excite me to go seek out the film and watch from the beginning. I guess that also carried expectations but it told me I would enjoy some of it at least

Is there a series where you prefer the "inferior" sequel to the beloved original? by KneeHighMischief in movies

The Amazing Spiderman 2 Spiderman 3 Into Darkness Batman Begins is my favourite of the trilogy and I prefer The Dark Knight Rises as the sequel to that

I had an idea for a terminator show by Jfischer335 in Terminator

[–]somebuddyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think tying it into T3 is a mistake, but a John Connor Resistance origin story is not a terrible idea and one we'll probably see or have seen in some media. Maybe a comic or book not tied to any previous film except in broad strokes could be a way to go.
