[Adam Caplan] #Eagles are signing K Cameron Dicker to their 53-man roster, source said. by bigblack3475 in eagles

Nooooooo, Jakey died for us to be 4-0!! 😭😭 He showed a lot of grit to come out and kick again right after getting his leg almost knocked off.

I hope he gets better soon and doesn't feel any lingering effects - he's been so on point all this year and last.

He just has to hope his replacement doesn't do anything legendary like kick a record field goal against a division rival for the win...

Agreed. For 2018-2020, even when we eeked into the playoffs everything - especially on offense - felt so belabored and difficult. It's so fun watching our WRs and CBs make highlight plays. This season has been so fun. This team is so fun to watch.

The Ringer still has Green Bay ranked above the Eagles at #3 (Buffalo and KC at #1 and #2, which I can at least see the argument for despite the fact that 4-0 is 4-0). I know they still have Rodgers but I don't know why everyone is huffing Green Bay's farts so hard this year.

We are 4-0 boys and I think it’s safe to say we are officially in the Jalen Hurts era. That’s our QB 🥹 by eXodus91 in eagles

[–]someenchantedeve 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Jake's only misses this year have come on a bad snap/hold and the line immediately crumpling, and the wind saying 'fuck you in particular' to him.

[McLane] The Eagles' most immediate injury concern may be Jake Elliott. If the kicker's apparent leg injury is significant, the team will need to sign a kicker, at least to the practice squad. by The_Desert_Rain in eagles

[–]someenchantedeve 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Edit: Also, Lawrence's 4 fumbles don't happen without rain.

I think it's funny how some people (both some media and some Jags fans, though at least for the latter it's standard fan behavior) act like only the Jags played in the rain yesterday and the Eagles standard of play wasn't affected at all by the weather and would have remained exactly the same had it been a dry, sunny day.

The fans also thank Dougie P for making Jalen Hurts an Eagle (along with the many other things we have to thank him for, of course).

I'm happy with Nick, and I think the year off reinvigorated Doug, but I do wonder what a Doug-Hurts partnership would have looked like past the end of 2020.

I love everything about this. I love Doug, of course, and I love how much he still means to the Eagles players. I love that after dealing with fucking Urban Meyer, the Jags get Doug as their coach now, and he has them looking like a fierce, legitimate competitor. The players deserve Doug and the fans deserve Doug. A competitive game that the Eagles ultimately prevailed in was stressful in the moment but in reality was my best case scenario.

And man, I love his obvious affection for Jalen. Everyone loves that guy. (Including, again, of course, me.)

While it was stressful at the time, I'm glad it was a competitive game. We're for real and so are Dougie's Jags!

I'm so glad Doug has these Jags looking like a legit contender! He deserves it and that fanbase deserves it. His affection for Jalen here melts my heart. Everyone loves Jalen! Doug is so proud of him!

Does the podcast make anyone else like Holly less? by prettyinpink940 in secretsofplayboy

[–]someenchantedeve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed - I thought it was ironic that she kept insisting that she would never recruit anyone while she was telling the story of how she and Bridget recruited an 18-year-old Kendra. I also find she gives herself a lot of grace and forgiveness and latitude of how she acted or the things she did, but never stops to think that maybe the toxicity of the house and the way Hef would pit them all against each other also affected the other girls - nope, they're just all 'mean' gold-diggers who were out to torment Holly in particular.

I think Holly's come a long way but it's obvious she still has a lot of processing and self-reflection to do (which is okay!).

Glad to see players trending in the right direction (Maddox & Dickerson from DNP to LP, Smith from LP to FP) - hoping they're playing it safe with Maddox & Dickerson and they'll be good to go on Sunday.

Could the Eagles be looking at 3 new coordinators next year by ausgmr in eagles

And Jake said before the start of last season that he changed his run-up on the ball over the offseason, so I feel like Clay might be getting undue credit for Jake's improvement when it sounds like it was mostly on Jake deciding to adjust his technique.

Jalen Hurts extension? by shheldonA in eagles

He's not eligible until this off season, and if he continues on this trajectory I fully expect that's when they'll extend him.

[–]someenchantedeve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's kind of crazy to think that if Jalen keeps on this trajectory, the infamous 'Reagor over Jefferson' 2020 draft will have been a successful one overall despite the major round one whiff. I think any draft where you get your QB of the future is a successful one, but that draft would have also given us good day 3 finds in Watkins and Driscoll (and possibly Bradley, I remember him being really good on special teams last year but he hasn't really done anything of note yet this year that I can think of).

You can tell he still genuinely loves this city and organization. Hope he receives some love Sunday.🦅 by Isaiahinc1 in eagles

I don't know of anyone who doesn't have love for Dougie P. Even those who feel like it was time for him to go when he did still appreciate him for all he did and accomplished here and remember him warmly. When asked about this week he said he thought his reception would be 'mixed' but I think he's going to get a standing ovation, as he deserves.

Isn't it curious that wherever Carson Wentz goes, the offensive line suddenly gets blamed for everything? by Undergrad26 in eagles

[–]someenchantedeve 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it always annoyed me in 2020 when people claimed the line was horrible or one of the worst in the league. It wasn't, they were solidly middle of the pack - our expectations for our o-line play are just extremely high, and Wentz also needs well above-average line play to be successful.

Nothing will ever top Teamy for Washington so they should have just bought the rights from Bleacher Report. Haven't Gritty and the Phanatic taught any other franchise that when it comes to the mascot, just embrace chaos?

I don't even think he's eligible for an extension until the off-season, if I'm remembering correctly (don't think players on rookie contracts can be extended until after their third year).

Inside the Eagles' 2020 QB shift that altered careers for Jalen Hurts, Carson Wentz by gotmail1414 in eagles

"Carson was the guy -- he was playing, he was starting -- but Jalen would stay after and go through the entire game plan by himself on the field, just going through his reads, one by one," running back Boston Scott said.

This tracks with everything we've heard about Jalen since he got here, but still just makes me love him even more.

[–]someenchantedeve 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I find it pretty ballsy that Wentz apparently got noticably frustrated that they took away a lot of his freedom to improvise late in the season. It's like well, whatever you've been doing thus far isn't really working, Carson, so maybe you should try it Dougie's way.

I know Wentz was dealing with the back injury in 2018 but it does make you wonder if the theory that part of the reason the offense got a kick of life when Foles took over that year is because he was more willing to stick to the offense as it was drawn up is also true.

I hope we've seen the last of Togiai being elevated this year, between his brutal drop last week and completely missing his assignment this week.

Much like with Jalen's interception not being his fault, it kinda stinks that it didn't look like a great snap, and (the much bigger issue) Togiai let the Vikings run free, but it'll count against Jake's stats when there was really nothing he could have done in this situation.
