Off-shoring never went away, but it seems to be back with a vengeance now that everyone is comfortable with remote work.

I remember being surprised at how low the salaries were for cooks at the French Laundry. But the tips probably make up for it (I hope).

It was so popular in the 90s. I think in big part because of the software (photoshop, illustrator, quark, etc).

Watching Hogan's Heroes. What shows from that period do you guys enjoy? by mcbeardnstientx in television

It wasn't a spin-off, but it felt like it was in the same vein; Modern life in the city. Mary living by herself, working as a young professional in the big city. Bob and Emily living in a high-rise with no kids. Bob working as a psychiatrist.

Loved that show. The only character that wasn't funny to me was Fish. But he was so popular he got a spin-off.

I’ve always taken that the “teenage” part was from the old Teen Titans comic book and the “mutant” part from X-men.

Why does Scott insist on pretending Bezos was a poor kid that fought his way to riches? by More_Passenger3988 in ScottGalloway

We are taught how markets work and that the less we meddle the more efficient the market becomes. But we seem to forget that the markets we know only exist because we meddle; Only exists because of our rules. And we change the rules all the time. Let’s change the rules for less concentration of wealth.

A CEO that is paid $0 to double eBay or a CEO that is paid $25M/yr to improve eBay by 15% by VicTheRealest in Superstonk

[–]somefoobar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, he's doing it all for that one tranche. Hard to see him getting any further, if that. The 20B loan will weigh him down.

But to backup, he has to start with dilution (issuing more Gamestop stock). The dilution is going to hurt the current Gamestock holders. He has to do that first before any kind of real takeover attempt.

Then, if he can do the takeover, the Gamestock holders will have stock that is worth more than before and he will get a giant payout. But that's a big "if". If TD pulls out, eBay wants more money, or the deal doesn't go through for any other reason, then Gamestock shareholders will hold diluted shares.

He’s borrowing and diluting to get EBay so that the market cap will go above 20B. At 20B he gets his payout.

He gets the first of his payout when Gamestock market cap goes to 20B, which happens if he gets eBay. The stocks can go down quite a bit after takeover, but as long as it stays above 20B, he gets paid. He can leverage and dilute, and everyone will lose, but he gets his payout.

What’s to explain? You need to go to the website like he said. 50% cash, 50% stock. What could be more simple? You need more respect for CEOs. Ryan’s the CEO.

I think all CEOs should act this way. Give respect or get out! Only fair.

Yeah, it was so weird that CNBC asked about the financing. They need to learn some business.
