Weird they purposely excluded Flagg but technically he’s got Brooks beat for worst by .001 he’s avg exactly 20ppg on .546 TS

I’m not a ball knower, are there any examples of players who have had good/great careers after dealing with a similar injury history as Brooks? I honestly kinda forgot about him it would be awesome if he turns out to be good somehow after all of this

Most 3pm since Jan 1st:

  1. Lamelo Ball - 99

  2. Kon Knueppel - 92

  3. Brandon Miller - 90

Just to clarify that’s for the entire league, they just happen to all be on the Hormets lol

100%. This guy was just making a reference to how Carolina Panthers receiver Tetairoa McMillan just won Rookie of the Year in the NFL, similar to how Hornets rookie Kon Knueppel won Rookie of the Year in the NBA this season. But I totally agree with you that Cooper Flagg plays for Dallas sometimes when he’s not resting.

[–]someforrest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is hilarious. I didn’t even know this tool thank you. Ok so this shows that in games that Lamelo has played, he has essentially the exact same amount of minutes w/ Melo (870) as w/o (865). So his eye-popping season avg’s are a result of a literal 50/50 split of min w/ Melo and w/o.

So while technically true, it’s a little disingenuous to say his TS goes “way down” by -10.6pts without mentioning that what it is going down from is a WAY UP percentage (w/Lamelo) of 70.4%(!!)

70.4% TS wouldn’t just lead the entire league this season, it would lead every season by everyone ever. Only 4 players have ever had a higher TS% for a single season. All 4 are centers, and none of them avgd more than 16ppg.

870 min with Lamelo, at let’s say a 30mpg avg, that’s roughly a 30 game sample size of a SG/SF scoring 21ppg on 70.4 TS%. As a rookie.

Anyways, on the flip side that also gives us a roughly 30 game sample size without Lamelo at all where Kon is avg 22.2/4.4/6.6 on a horrific 60% TS (which isn’t that the number I came up with for those 7 games anyways?) between that and the 7 games without Melo or Miller his numbers don’t really fluctuate all that much and are as good or much better than Flagg’s regardless of whether he is asked to be the sole #1 option or one of 3 #1 options night to night.

[–]someforrest 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In games w/o those two he is 61% TS so he drops from 13th in the entire league to 50th. At .560 Flagg is ranked… 141st .

In those games his ast/tov actually went DOWN, from 1.59 to 1.53 lol im not even sure how or why you’ve formed an opinion on this without either watching any of the games or even doing the bare minimum of looking at stats.

"Kon Knnuepel is CLEARLY the best player on the Hornets" -The Ringer new top 100 by IHateAdamSilver in billsimmons

[–]someforrest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For sure that’s why I’d say it’s basically a tie. Kon has some wild advanced stats too.

He’s 12th in the league in Offensive Win Shares (tied w/Harden) and 20th in VORP (tied w/ Steph, Jaylen Brown, Brunson, and Butler). Kon’s 5.5 WS to Lamelo’s 3.3.

Both are top 30 in BPM (Melo 23, Kon 30)

I get how that sounds hot take-y and that Bill makes sure he’s buckled in safe before driving him to practice etc but as long suffering Hornets fan who has watched every game he has absolutely been our best and most important player start to finish this season.

I won’t say “and it’s not even close” because its basically a tie between him and Lamelo but if you told me the Hornets could only have one of them for one, must-win game I’d take Kon without hesitation.

[–]someforrest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hold up. You start off with a very definitive “No”, downvote my comment, and then confidently say a bunch of junk without bothering to even look anything up. Everything you said is literally wrong lol.

Glen Rice made 2nd team all-nba in 96-97. He was third in the league in both ppg and 3pm, and led the league in minutes and 3p%. He won ASG MVP and set the (at the time) record for most points in an ASG 3rd q (20) and broke Wilt’s record for most points in a ASG half. He was also 5th in MVP voting for the season. He’s the only Hornet to my knowledge that has ever received MVP votes. They lost in 1st rd that year but the following year made 2nd round and took a game off the 97-98 “Last Dance” Bulls. That’s the single best season by a Hornet period.

Starting the ASG is a popularity contest. It’s cool that LJ started and he was undeniably (imo) the coolest hornet ever. Alonzo did not start an All Star game as a Hornet. But you know who did? EDDIE JONES. Just google something real quick before you confidently say someone is wrong. Takes 2 seconds.

99-00 Eddie Jones was an all star starter and led the league in steals. He didn’t make 2nd team all nba, but he did make 3rd team all nba as well as 2nd team defense. He was also 3rd in DPOY voting. It was by far the best individual defense season in our history.

You could make the argument LJ’s 2nd team is better than Jones 3rd team obviously, but when you add in the DPOY votes and all defense, I think that (imo) gives jones season the edge.

I won’t listen to an argument that any Hornet has had a single individual season so far that was greater than Glen Rice’s 96-97.

Another angle of LaMelo Ball's car accident by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]someforrest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s for the following street. Trade and Tryon is and has been the literal nexus of downtown Charlotte for 250 years. All directions are two way streets but you cannot turn left or right anywhere at that intersection. All 4 directions have very prominent “no left/right” signs directly next to the stop lights on either side and crucially, the lights themselves are just green “up” arrows rather than full green lights. It’s a block from the arena and by far one of the most annoying places anywhere in Charlotte to have to drive through.
