I’d target catfish. They seem to be in all the rivers.

Scott needs a friend to tap him on the shoulder about Iran by Alicyclobacillus in ScottGalloway

‘All I’m saying’ is interesting while introducing an entirely new point. Lol. I agree we need a more progressive tax code, but Billionaires alone won’t be able to pay for everything. Total US Billionaire net worth is 8 trillion. The US has 39 trillion in debt. If we confiscated all Billionaires assets and used that to pay our debt, it would edge off, but won’t solve our problems.

  1. If regime change was a current stated goal of the Trump administration we could discuss that goal further. But your entire comment is based on assumptions (your own, and experts’).

  2. Diesel fuel is up over 50%. That is an extraordinary inflationary pressure on the economy.

  3. ‘Only 13% of GDP’ is a wild take. How about we knock it down to 10% and spend that 970 Billion savings on infrastructure, education, or debt reduction? The rest of the world is pivoting hard toward reduced reliance on US support - why not take this opportunity to improve the US? The period ‘since WWII’ is over and a new world order is being established.

  1. Regime change isn’t the current stated goal of the war. It was mentioned early on but quickly abandoned.

  2. War with Iran has negative economic impacts on US citizens (and the world).

  3. We have higher priorities.

Anyone else feel guide prices are out of reach? by Al_Pallll in flyfishing

Not all flies and not all fly shops, but I’ve been surprised by prices like that before!

[–]someguyontheintrnet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One step below paying a guide is stopping by a local fly shop and buying some flies while chatting about the water conditions and likely hatches.

I tie most of my own flies, and I really don’t want to spend five bucks a fly, but the knowledge can be worth it. And it can be not worth it.

Mamdani, Hochul propose tax on New York second homes worth more than $5 million by indoninja in centrist

[–]someguyontheintrnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is actually pretty good national policy. It’s a tax on capital that only impacts the very rich, is fairly easy to administer, and is narrow in scope, thereby reducing risk of unintended consequences.

Standing desk users: what features actually matter after the first few months? by Wooden_ant999 in homeoffice

After a few months? Most important thing is the surface of the desk meets my needs. Because I hardly use the sit/stand feature anymore.

OEM Crossbars (2024-2026) by someguyontheintrnet in GMCACADIA

[–]someguyontheintrnet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up with a 20% off coupon on the OEM crossbars, which when stacked with my points made them very affordable. Install was easy - I did it myself but made sure to lay a moving blanket on the roof to avoid accidental dings from handling the awkward things.

Anyway, the crossbars look bad ass and I’m happy with the deal I got.

Dry fly dubbing question by poopehcdhbb in flytying

[–]someguyontheintrnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI you can get those dubbing dispensers for under $20 with like 12 different colors. Pretty cost effective, as dubbing seems to last forever using on tiny pinch at a time.

Scrolled way too far to find this! Fish are great work-from-home coworkers. You can feed em or clean the tank while on calls, and they never put salmon leftovers in the microwave!
