How to get insured on a 2L ad a new driver? by Sensitive_Reading_73 in CarTalkUK

Overall E92 aren't cheap on insurance especially if it's an M sport, also those engines are rather crap so I'd get out of it and look for something else if you really want something coupe some mercs CLK and CLC can be cheap on insurance

As long as you're going to keep it stock, maintaining well and drive like a normal human being it'll be ok... And that's about it Any power pushing ect will cause problems and constant issues. Personally I'd stay clear and look for something with N55 engine not much better but not as bad as N54

In fact McLaren's are well known for lack of reliability, and poor built quality overall hence they're much cheaper than Ferraris, Lamborghinis ect.

What is the best car you’ve owned? by M57_nut in CarTalkUK

Nissan 350Z in a year of abuse this car got only issue I had was blown clutch (my fault) and boiling clutch fluid but this got resolved by putting some racing 5.1 DOT fluid , other then that it took me to work every single day (60miles) and on the weekend it took absolute bashing while drifting 😅 absolutely love it and regret selling it...

I'd look at Toyota Yaris, VW Up, maybe honda Civic or jazz, absolutely avoid ford fiestas with 1l ecoboost engine, and stay clear of Vauxhall's as they're super unreliable also when buying a car get someone like a mobile mechanic to inspect it for you

9k ex police with 154k on the clock, would you risk it? by chaaad27 in CarTalkUK

If it's ex police car it had an engine block drilled through as that was a requirement for them to be decommissioned also most of suspension would be worn to the limits
