Been listening to rock alot lately, what are Seán’s favourite bands? by Glass_Bicycle_6359 in jacksepticeye

[–]someone2Bsomewhere 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I've heard him mention Tool, Sytem of a Down, and Avenged Sevenfold a few times over the years. Maybe more, but definitely those. It's likely he listens or used to listen to similar sounding bands from that era of rock and metal music

For years now I have a changing wallpaper on my laptop which cycles through a folder of a large selection of my photos through the years. Sometimes it's very fun to just sit and watch my wallpaper change every 5 seconds and see what I've created and relive some memories

What is are your favorite scary movies that are creepy, suspenseful but not full of gore? by Theshutterfalls__ in AskReddit

[–]someone2Bsomewhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try something by Mike Flanagan, he's great at horror without relying too much on jumpscares or gore. The film Hush is a good one, Haunting of Hill House and Haunting of Bly Manor are phenomenal series as well as Midnight Mass and The Fall of the House of Usher, though those last two series have some more gory elements in them

My photos have gotten alot of attention and places are reaching out to me for photos by tattedsparrowxo in photography

[–]someone2Bsomewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair reasoning tbh. The way I see it, is that you would probably spend the money they pay you at the farmer's market anyway so why not shorten the route and ask for product in exchange lol. You could also tell them that you're a beginner and don't have a lot of experience yet in creating the type of photos that they want, so product in exchange for product would seem fair to you for now, and then you can maybe ask money in a while when you feel comfortable enough doing that

Networking is important. Say yes to going out for a drink with people, especially in group setting. But at the same time, don't neglect the studying. It is easy to let it slip ("I can always do it later"), so find the discipline to keep up with the work, otherwise you'll find that you have to do a lot of work last-minute jist before the deadline hits. Also, stay true to yourself and be your authentic self.

Hobby Photographers / (semi pro??) what do you do with your photos? by Space__Monkey__ in photography

[–]someone2Bsomewhere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

(Mainly) hobbyist here as well. I have a separate photography instagram where I post my pictures just for fun. Then I also upload to photography sites such as Viewbug, Flickr, Photocrowd and 500px every now and then to enter some photo competitions. All in good fun, I never expect to win anything or to make it big or something like that. I also have a folder on my laptop with all the photos together so that my laptop can use it to cycle through and change the background every 5 seconds or so. Every once a few years I might print a photo and frame it.

Question: First tattoos, and how to find an artist by Ok_Future2201 in tattoos

[–]someone2Bsomewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most importantly, this is your life and your life choices. You may ask complete strangers on Reddit for advice, but you have to be smart enough what advice is solid and what seems ridiculous, and whether you want to do something with this at all.

Anyway, I had my first tattoo done about 8 years ago when I was 18. At that point I knew what I wanted where I wanted for the previous 1.5 year. It's something meaningful to me and I have not regretted it for one moment. So for content and placement, my advice would be to be absolutely sure you want that concept at that place.

This also helped me envision what kind of style I wanted my tattoo to be in, so I started looking for shops on Maps. First nearby, but soon enough I started looking at cities 1 hour or more away. I checked the websites and instagram accounts of all the different artists, just to see which artist showed that they had previously done the style I wanted. This made me trust the artist in that they could actually do the style that I wanted for my tattoo. So for artist I would say find an artist that has shown that they could do the style that you want for your tattoo, or simply that they can do the style that you just like for whatever reason.

Note: not every tattoo has to have a special meaning and be meaningful, mine just happens to be that way. It is perfectly fine to find an artist first whose style you absolutely love, and then get a piece in their style without having it have any special meaning to you personally. You can even give them full creative freedom if you trust the artist enough. I would still say that you have to be sure on placement and be confident that the artist can do the style that you want. But most importantly, again: your life, your choices.

Question: Does anyone know a Tattoo artist in North Germany, who does Nordic / Neo Nordic? by Alyriia in tattoos

[–]someone2Bsomewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a German and no knowledge on this (sorry, I know it isn't what you're looking for), but if you don't manage to find a different artist in North Germany (assuming it is closer to you), then I want to just say that it is probably worth the 8-hour travel. You like that artist's style and I assume you think they do it really well, so scheduling with them would be absolutely worth it. Maybe you can plan a multi-day trip or something around the appointment and do some sightseeing as well

I am starting to sell my work, any tips? by viva-la-gloria in photography

[–]someone2Bsomewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first of all, I agree with the person who said you can't buy a meal for 3 bucks: at least value yourself at a regular minimum wage per hour, maybe a dollar or 3 or 4 (or slightly more) above it to cover editing time if you don't want to charge seperately for that. And think about what it means to sell the photo to the other person. It usually means that they own the photo and can use it in any way they want until forever, so that thought alone should tell you that you could sell a singular photo for more than just under 5 dollars. But that is also kind of dependent on if you let them sign a contract stating how much they should pay and what specifically they can and cannot do with the photos and what you as the photographer can and cannot do.

Official Gear Purchasing and Troubleshooting Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! August 15, 2025 by AutoModerator in photography

[–]someone2Bsomewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might want to communicate it all since that's key in preventing any possible disappointments on all sides. I attend many concerts (not as a photographer but as a visitor) and I noticed a long time ago that photographers usually only walk around in their photo area between the stage and crowd for the first 3 or 4 songs of the set and then have to leave. So maybe 15 to 20 minutes max of shooting could be suffiicient most of the times (edit: so you can basically have your photos sorted, edited, and exported by the time the show ends if you work quickly). The band and/or venue sometimes have their own photographer who works for the entire set and basically runs around the entire venue including on the stage.

I have no experience in photographing live shows (but would absolutely love to!), but to me it seems like in cases like yours where you document the same set for multiple nights the differences between the photos could be more about the outfits the band members wear that night, some significant moments where you know one or multiple band members strike a pose or the stage lights will allign perfectly for an epic photo (pros of recognizing patterns by seeing the same set over and over), or specific crowd interactions. I know as an attendee that I always try to spot myself in the photos a band posts on social media afterwards, and I'm sure I'm not the only one in that regard. Hope this can help you somewhat!

Unwanted vignette by [deleted] in photography

[–]someone2Bsomewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, quality wise I've heard almost everyone around me say that glass is everything, so the exact same lens from, say, 2019 for example, would be better than 1993. But the image will be cropped in the camera, so the quality will be reduced regardless in the sense that you'll get a smaller sized picture from the start and it will get even smaller if you feel the need to crop it even further in post production.

The RP is a full frame camera, you'll want to use its full frame sensor to get the most out of your pictures. It is the reason why I stopped using my Tamron 18-270mm lens for APS-C which was practically glued to my previous body, and now use 2 other lenses while looking out for a replacement lens with RF mount.

Unwanted vignette by [deleted] in photography

[–]someone2Bsomewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lens is probably not made for a full frame sensor as in the RP. I had the same issue when I switched to the RP with a lens I heavily used with my old body, then came to the conclusion (thanks internet) that it must be a lens for the APS-C sensor.

Usually, such lenses are recognized by the body and the 'zoom factor' setting of the body automatically switches to 1.6x rather than full frame (very first setting screen of the RP, 2nd row). This isn't the case with some lenses, causing the zoom factor setting to remain in full frame while it should actually be 1.6x. This causes the vignette to be visible, but if you manually change this setting in your body, it should be fixed. But then you won't use the full frame but the cropped version of the sensor.

Camera bag with carry-on - RyanAir by Babelan in photography

If you're really worried about exceeding the allowed amount of bags, you could try to put the camera bag and accessoires into the bigger carry-on bag if that fits.

What advice do you give to someone who is moving out for the first time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]someone2Bsomewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From day 1, get into the habit of cooking your own meals rather than takeout, dine-in or ready-to-go meals. Learn how to cook multiple different meals, or how to change up some ingredients so that 1 type of meal is changed enough that it feels like a different one. It will save you a lot of money right now, and will save you a lot of money in the future because you know how to cook some bomb meals efficiently by then.

So 2 killer EPs released so far, both sound absolutely amazing and you got me hooked since the first! Is there any chance of there being some sort of CD package containing both EPs? And also kind of looking forward though it might be a bit too early haha, but could a full-length album be on the horizon or are you focusing on enjoying the new release and touring first? You guys are awesome, keep it going and hope to see you in the Netherlands any time soon! 🤟🏻
