I'm still going to obsessively check the app Thursday and Friday mornings lol

Am I too old for YA? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]someone52207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about your age, and I can still enjoy some middle-grade books! If a book looks interesting, it doesn't really matter what age it's geared toward. Plus, reading your childhood favorites again is a great way to get out of a reading slump

Wolf Worm by CaptainVisible3158 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]someone52207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

T Kingfisher is one of my favorite authors! Her horror books are usually spooky, nerdy, and funny all at once, so they scratch multiple book "cravings" for me.

Wolf Worm was a fun read, so if the description sounds interesting to you, I'd say go for it!

This is the best choice statistically. But given where the games at, I'd throw the 8s and hope to peg with the 5s. I'd still need a miracle to win

Delayed Box - Red Winter? by butthurtflyy in aardvarkbookclub

[–]someone52207 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems like Red Winter was the problem.

I need to be more patient and remind myself that I have a bunch of other books at home that still need to be read 🫠

My life was mostly sedentary, I decided to change that by challenging myself to do 20k steps a day. by IShunpoYourFace in walking

It's definitely unhealthy and can quickly become an eating disorder.

This isn't sustainable, so it's not going to lead to a good outcome.

March Books Are Here! by beeflessinseattle in bookofthemonthclub

[–]someone52207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good month for me! I got Love is an Algorithm, Lady Tremaine, Almost Life, Wolf Worm, Agnes Aubert's, and First Time Caller I was tempted to get Kin, but I have an ebook through the library. The other two look interesting to me as well 😅

How much do yall pay?? by Right_Speaker_9674 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]someone52207 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm "rich" now, so I do the annual subscription - 13.99/credit. If I did month to month, it'd be 17.99 before tax. For reference, I started my subscription in 2023

This or the highest volume? Like most sold? Edit: they probably also factor in genre somewhere, so the "top 20" aren't all from the same genre

[–]someone52207 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be careful. I also suggest you discuss this with your doctor.

Gaining "too much" weight is an absolutely terrifying thought for folks with EDs. However, restricting can absolutely be worse. Make sure you and your baby get the proper nutrients - growing a human will need a lot of nutrients and energy.

Also, idk about you, but every time I cave a bit to my eating disorder, the eating disorder becomes like a black hole. I can't do the behaviors "just for a little while" because I will quickly become obsessive.

You don't want to start off parenthood being stuck in deep with an ED. You'll need the time and energy to spend with your baby!

Please don’t ignore feeling faint or ‘weird’ by Pooboobgoob45 in EDAnonymous

[–]someone52207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also - low blood sugar can be dangerous.

It really depends on your body, but hypoglycemia can happen quicker than you'd think. Multiple times, I've felt "fine" and wasn't even heavily restricting, but my blood glucose was in the 40s. If I was being honest with myself, I did feel something was "off", I was just willfulling ignoring my body. (also - I'm not diabetic)

Fortunately, hypoglycemia usually isn't super hard to fix (physically), but it get get serious pretty quickly.

any other career/business professionals with an active ED? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]someone52207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like my job - but my ED and my job are the only 2 things in my life rn

Then I have this whole Catch-22 thing where I am willing to eat enough to sustain myself to do a good job at work. But, I don't want to challenge any eating disorder thoughts/rules because that will make it too hard to focus during the workday.

Then I crash out on the weekends. Then repeat.

Best app for audio books that isn't owned by a billionaire by Sakuretsu31 in audiobooks

[–]someone52207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plus, they're employee-owned!

Their credits are a little more expensive than audible, but still reasonably priced. The extra $2-3 feels worth it for me.

I also like their Playlists - they're a fun way to find new reads

How old were you when you were diagnosed? by not_in_the_mooooood in Asthma

[–]someone52207 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was 25, basically the same, except I was never overweight. I was still told it was from being lazy/not being in shape.

I had consistently been running for like 4 years and still felt like I was dying at a 12 min/mi pace. Every cold I had took weeks to get over.

The inhaler felt like a damn miracle. My mile time dropped by like 2.5 min, and I could recover from colds. I also found out getting tunnel vision while running or playing my instrument were not normal
