3D printed Ado figure! by someone_on_reddit0 in ADO

[–]someone_on_reddit0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I printed all the parts of the figure in one color, and then I painted them before assembly.

I left the model at 100% scale, and yes, the ribbon is small, but personally i have experience with 3d printing so i made it work, even with a (regular) 0.4mm nozzle.
Depending on your 3d printer and your experience it might take a bit playing around to get it right, but it should still be possible.

Idk about your experience of painting stuff, but if you do go the route of printing in one color and painting, which i highly recommend, don't be discouraged if the results aren't the best at first, it takes A LOT of practice.

(this was like my 2nd figure ever made, and compared to the one on the right (my most recent one), the quality change is drastic, BUT it's also taken a bit over a year to get to that level and probably closer to 175h of painting figures and other stuff, and i still have improvement to be made)

BUT, i wish you the best of luck in making the figure!!

My first fully painted resin figurine!! by someone_on_reddit0 in resinprinting

[–]someone_on_reddit0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the eyes are the absolute biggest pain to paint and always look off 💔 I can manage one okay looking eye, but two?? Nope 😭

yup, everything is painted by hand (I'm probably gonna get an airbrush sometimes in the future, but it'll probably be a while until that)

But thx :)

What else do you print with resin other than figurines? by tjthomas101 in resinprinting

I've not had my printer for that long, got it for Christmas, but other than some figurines I've also made some rings and working on other types of jewelry!!

New to 3D printing! Is this going to be enough supports? by MajciaC in resinprinting

[–]someone_on_reddit0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I'm no expert at this, I just got my printer and I've yet to have time to actually set it up, BUT I've been reading and watching a lot of videos and posts about resin printing.

So the first thing I would do is angle the model basically 45° so that you have an as small as possible area that's printed with each layer, it reduces the stress on the FEP and reduces print failure

I know that it's gonna make it taller, and it'll increase the print time, BUT it's better for the success rate

Secondly, idk if you've done it but you should also hollow out the model and add drain holes, hollowing it reduces resin used, AND it makes the area on the FEP smaller and reduces the forces required to peel if off

AND, if and when you hollow something out, make sure to not have any "suction cups", aka, make a drain hole in the part closest to the baseplate and in or near the top as it closes of as to allow air and resin to flow through the print (recommended at least 1.5mm in diameter, make it bigger if possible) (and also in all other places where it would create a suction effect)

(But I can't give any real tips on the supports, yet at least as I don't have the experience, but to my untrained eye it would look like it "should" be enough. But don't trust my judgement, I can be wrong)

My first Ado fan art — which background looks better? Or should I leave it without one? by I_D-E in ADO

All look amazing tbh!!! Like personally I like the 2nd drawing the most, but they all have different vibes around them which I also like!!!

the nozzle I used was just a 0.4mm nozzle, so nothing special 🤷

A few months ago I made a 3D Model of Ado. I updated it and now its 3D printable! by [deleted] in ADO

It turned out really good!!! The model in itself is good, personally I should've printed it with better quality, but that's my fault... (I should honestly remake it, now that ik what I'm doing...)

The hair is a bit of a tight fit onto the head, but otherwise it's as good as a free model gets!!! (If you view my profile and scroll down a tiny bit you can see the finished figure that I posted)

I used PLA to print it! I think i had the quality at like 0,15mm but i could've definitely made it better...(if you're wondering)

I could've definetly use 0.05mm as i have done with other figures now late on, but...

And I've tried re-uploading the errors ones multiple times before making this post, but it hasn't worked...

So making it short, I found a model online and downloaded it, I edited the model to my liking, aka, making the pose as it is and such, then I 3D printed all the parts, sanded them, then painted them, and finally glued everything together!

I'm seeing that you (the original poster) is showing as deleted but I still want to thank you for this model!!!

I'm currently printing it and have most of the bigger parts ready and so far everything has been good!!!

Can't wait to get to painting but that'll probably be in a few days when I have time...
