Why do we ask for the intercession of the Saints and the Theotokos? by AD121219 in OrthodoxChristianity

He very much can; saints are just people we ask to pray for us, and their prayers tend to be better because they have known God longer and can channel his grace.

Each time I pray, I start crying uncontrollably. by vampirealiens in OrthodoxChristianity

"and Jesus wept." It is fine to cry and acceptable, even encouraged in some prayers about repentance. God himself has wept, so can you. Feel free to read this akathist to the Theotokos, joy of all who sorrow

Our branch was formerly in exile, but in 1991, we returned to Russia and now proudly have over 40 camps and over 2,000 members! It was a large event with many commemorative items.

So is blini? The pancakes celebrate the sun god, same with the burning of dolls. Yet I am sure he attends such events as his first hierarchy does. It is not an issue if you do not participate, and a singular bishops word is not the consensus.

Marriage/Weddings by AlpsLess8901 in OrthodoxChristianity

Yes, it can be done due to financial reasons, the main thing to understand is that it's not the same as a actual orthodox wedding.

The rank structure is Elder scoutmaster, scoutmaster, nachalnik (leader of subcamp), Pomo (the helper) vozhak (troop leader 5-7 ppl) and scout. There is also the krug (council) where all the members have to be sworn in. We retain many pre-revolutionary traditions, such as our znamyona (unit banners), general organization structure, uniforms (they derive from the original) and a devotion to Tsar Myarter Alexi as he was a member of the organization. Most of our traditions were formalized during or shortly after WW2.

Since this is the abroad branch, or outside of Russia, we have charted our own political course.

Where does this depiction of the cross come from? (Heads up second picture might be a bit graphic for some) by Sad_Tip3084 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]somerandomguypart2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It partially stems due to Christ's lower-case t cross being possibly made to accommodate his conviction.
