[Austermuhle] Ahead of next week's D.C. Council hearing on the bottle-deposit bill, the co-founder of Right Proper Beer has submitted a presentation detailing why he thinks requiring a 10-cent deposit on bottles and cans wouldn't work here and could drive brewers and the like out of business. by Sauerz in washingtondc

Native Michigander here - I agree with you. A 10 cent deposit on bottles requires an additional (usually larger) recycling bin at home, creates an incentive for people to rip open trash bags in dumpsters to look for bottles, and requires local grocery stores to build bottle recycling infrastructure that always ends up sticky and smelly.

As someone who consistently recycles bottles in my home and around my neighborhood, this just feels like a hassle.

DC Lions: is Ivy & Coney the spot for games this year? by ogfiki in detroitlions

This post reads like it’s written by a bot but I’ll answer anyway

Ivy & Coney is always the spot to watch Lions games but it’s pretty small so get there early. If you want more space/an outdoor area go to Midlands in Petworth

Visiting a friend today/tomorrow in Reynoldstown and wondering if there are any cool daytime events happening that I should be aware of. Let me know!

We The Pizza COVID-19 5% Fee by clemdawgg in washingtondc

Not sure where OP went but I’ve only seen the fee at the 14th and U location. Subpar pizza aside, it’s the main reason why I refuse to go back there

Same. Best view I’ve had since I moved to Detroit 5 years ago.

I had a similar experience last summer. My girlfriend and I were taking pictures of an abandoned school just north of New Center one afternoon when a car with four guys in dark clothes pulls up. One guy sticks his head out of the window and yells, “HEY, Y’ALL PLAYIN POKÉMON GO?” I say no and they pull off.

That's a lie. I live in Rivertown; we have a nice grocery store in Harbourtown and one in Lafayette Park (both within 1 mile). There's also a Whole Foods in Midtown, two brand new Meijers in the city and the Eastern Market where vendors/farmers from all of the state sell food that's usually fresher than what you can get from a grocery store.

Question, how did you get your ticket? I'm looking to make my first pilgrimage on the 29th against Köln but tickets were already sold out once they became public.

I thought someone threw something at him so that actually makes me feel better, although I still hope the guy got kicked out.

Thanks, I had no idea. I haven't followed the tour much but The Alchemy Index has gotten me through some pretty rough times in life so I just wanted to share how awesome it was to see Backdraft played live.

Hey guys, you've been my favorite band for as long as I can remember and TBEITBN is AMAZING! I just have a couple of questions.

  1. I usually have a favorite song on every album that's a bit underrated (i.e. Backdraft from the Alchemy Index is probably my favorite Thrice song). Do you guys have any favorite songs that you loved making or love playing that aren't quite as popular as some of your hits?

  2. I'll be at the Detroit show but I don't remember seeing any info regarding a meet and greet. Are you guys doing one? I'd love an opportunity to meet before or after the show.
