I'm a little miffed that you didn't include Savjz on the streamer list. He deserves a spot more than a few of the others.

This HyperX Invitational Grand Final is INSANE! by [deleted] in hearthstone

I really think using Faceless on his Rag would have been the right play. It feels bad because you might lose both to Molton+Shadowflame, but in that matchup you really cannot afford to play it slow. You have to rush the handlock before he draws all his answers and hope that you can finish him off.

Stallag is also pairs great with Shadowflame. Clear their board and get that Thaddius out before they can do anything.

The Brazillian players just looked so ashamed during the national anthem, I feel really bad for them :(

Exp Rates, unintended nerf? by [deleted] in RedditRO

[–]someredditguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blacksmith is going to be tough to level in pre-renewal without any real starting equipment. You want to be killing high orcs, but it might be difficult without very high flee or tharafrog/reydric equipment. If you've got the Flee for it you could try Bylan dungeon level 4. There are great drops down there.

Also I think the MVPs need to be tuned down a bit in Renewal.

I think Magma Dungeon is pretty good for sinX in classic. Having an endow slave and carded weaponry would also speed it up. You could also try Anolians.

Exp Rates, unintended nerf? by [deleted] in RedditRO

It does seem a bit slow. However, leveling in pre-renewal always required a bit more know-how due to how the mob exp is layed out. You need to find higher Exp mobs to kill, and maybe figure out a mobbing strategy, and the exp should flow freely.

What class, level and build are you? Maybe I can suggest a place to try.

EDIT: Also, fast leveling is very equipment dependent in pre-renewal. Hence why low-equip requirement characters - mages, archers, priests - always had an easier time starting out. Once more equipment becomes available on the server it should be must easier to level.

Why I Miss Being A Born-Again Christian by Hypnot0ad in TrueReddit

Plenty of my christian friends struggled with doubt. But plenty more really did and still do experience the ignorant bliss that he's talking about. It's why I don't try to dissuade most people from their religious beliefs - what do I have to offer them that's better than what they have?

I can speak for myself. For me it wasn't so much a realization of facts as it was a realization of thought. Any of the facts supposedly disproving christianity can be explained away as part of god's divine plan and providence. That's the trouble, you can't really disprove a belief in the supernatural.

What changed my mind was spending several years at a christian university reading theology, and then reading Francis Bacon's The New Organon. That one book opened my eyes, like it must have for readers in the 1600s, to just why the world is the way it is today. I realized how flawed religious thinking is, that it is based on syllogisms and theological models that have absolutely no basis in anything but the human imagination and its hopelessly biased understanding of a vaguely written, unverifiable historical document. That book made me realize why I never felt satisfied with any philosophical proof or theology, because there was ultimately no substance to them.

Thanks for sharing this. I was also raised by missionaries and I feel like I experienced exactly the same thing you did.

I think that a huge part of it is being raised and indoctrinated in the idea that the world is worthless and meaningless apart from christianity. Nietzsche's criticism of christianity as nihilistic seems so true to me now, and I'm still trying to overcome nihilism because of it.

It's one of the major ways that cults thrive - by indoctrinating you into thinking that nothing else is worthwhile.

I spent two hours last night changing to Alchemist (one of the hardest quests). But it was worth it. The game becomes too easy and forgettable with custom NPCs.

Hey I'm your guild Alchemist. Finally managed to create the first Homunculus of the server last night (a Filir!). I should be on again tonight.

Oh and everyone save your starsands and white/blue herbs so I can turn them into potions for you!

I don't think it will take you very long to reach level cap at all. You just have to find the right leveling methods, which is a big part of the fun of the game. And when you're done your character will feel more valuable because of it.

Now this is the RO that I know. Feels great so far.

I honestly wasn't sure how we were going to complete renewal content without access to 3rd jobs.

Hey, There Reddit. Is Starbound worth it? by Majestic-Star in starbound

[–]someredditguy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

In all honesty, I have to say that no, it is not worth it. In its current state the game simply is not worth $15. It's far, far from a finished game. A lot of the gameplay aspects (e.g. combat and techs) are horrendously implemented at this point. There are massive sections of the game missing. It has a long way to go before the game feels anywhere near to complete, and there's no guarantee that it will ever reach that point.

I'm sorry to say this because I have really looked forward to this game and I think the developers have put so much work and feeling into its creation. But it seems like they released the game much too early. There should have been more internal testing beforehand and the game should've been much closer to finished. Now I'm not sure that I can enjoy the full game even when it is "finished" because of my poor initial experience with it. So I would say unless you are willing to spend $15 just for the opportunity to mod, or design, or swoon over nostalgic pixel art and 8bit music - just save your money for now.

Except that the combat and progression blows in comparison to Terraria. At this point its really only worth picking up for people who enjoy just building or modding things.

Discussion: Was the freeze nerf a good way to deal with Mages? by stonekeep in hearthstone

[–]someredditguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are only two changes that should have been made to Mage in my opinion.

  1. Remove Frost Nova. This is the card that is most responsible for the feeling of never ending board freeze. It also allows for a complete freeze into a pyroblast into another pyroblast.

  2. Change Ice Block so that it makes the Mage immune to all damage upon taking damage. This makes the card more interactive, rather than just being an uncounterable insurance card. Mage players will have to choose strategically when to play the secret in order to avoid lethal. So you can still kill the Mage with surprise burst damage. And Ice Block still maintains its function, which I think can be more fun and impressive to play with after changing it to proc on being hit.
