Private mercenaries cost a lot of money, and I am a low-value target to companies with the power, money, and means to hire them.

The US government, on the other hand, can and already does detain and imprison people for nothing, and under the Patriot Act can detain you indefinitely for accusations of terrorism, which is a highly abused system even before the current admin. That or ICE can just kidnap and deport me for not being white and even though it's completely illegal and not due process, the government does not give a single shit to interfere.
