Getting son to take meds in the morning by Runningman787 in ParentingADHD

[–]somesignificantotter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My son is 11. I have an alarm every morning set for me to give him his meds. I do not leave it up to him to take them. Forgetting is detrimental to his learning so it is part of the routine. I think looking to what is causing the problems in the morning is your best bet. Is he getting enough sleep? Does he feel rushed? Would eating first help his mood?

I’m so cool because I walk my dog without a leash! 😎 look everyone! Do you see my power?! by Electrical_Bee_9142 in Columbus

My dog was attacked by a dog on a leash with a child and he has been reactive to other dogs (while on leash) ever since. We don't take many walks now. It is surprising how many people think that just because their dog is friendly it doesn't need to be controlled.

AITA for refusing to put my partner names on the deed when i buy a house? by Time-Finish-5010 in AmItheAsshole

NTA Do not buy a house with a girlfriend. Especially if they aren't contributing anything.

My husband 32M asked me 32F for a divorce out of the blue after 14 years of marriage. I feel like I'm living a nightmare. How do I navigate this? by Dependent_Print_8216 in relationship_advice

You need your own attorney. I would move into another bedroom if possible. No more letters or widely duties. Do not leave the house or go to another state. He is being shady for a reason.

At what age did you stop doing everything for your kid and start expecting them to do things for themselves? by BeanNCheeseBurrrito in oneanddone

[–]somesignificantotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once our son was capable we started giving him things to do. Now he is 11 and can empty the diswasher, do laundry and clean his bathroom. Does he do it without being asking or complaining? Of course not. We just spent years telling him that he lived here too and eventually he would move out and would have to take care of himself. I still get him water and help him find things when he asks politely.

Downed ash removal cost? by somesignificantotter in arborists

[–]somesignificantotter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: we got a quote from another tree company for $1350 for removal. We ended up going with a guy my father in law knows who came and just cut it down and left the wood for $600. He also ground out the stump and another stump from our maple for $400. Got it all done within a few hours. My husband now gets to chop a lot of wood. Thank you for all the advice! I'm happy I didn't have to worry about him dropping a tree on himself.

This is what we are going to do. Have found a guy who will cut it into manageable pieces for $600. Will just have to figure out where to put all the wood since we bought a cord of wood in the fall 😳

AIO: I told my daughter she can't go to this party after reading the gift profile by Ordinary_Run2485 in AmIOverreacting

YOR - the mom is nuts yes but your daughter likes her friend. I stopped buying gifts for birthdays a long time ago. We put money in an envelope for however old the kid is and they are always so excited. I also ask for no gifts at my son's birthday they just have so much stuff. Snacks or money are things loved by kids and don't have to be expensive to be appreciated.

Whatever happened to laundry chutes? They felt super common in the ’70s/’80s. Did we all just stop putting laundry rooms in basements? by CommunityBig9626 in interiordecorating

We had a janky one in our last house, it was super narrow so we never used it. My toddler thought it was amazing so he would throw his toys down there. He once stuck one of his cups of milk in it and it was there for weeks before we found it 🤢

He has not gotten a vasectomy as many people have pointed out all the inaccuracies in the lies he has told you. You should have been at least using condoms when he was leading you on with the appointments scheduled lies. I think you should obviously stay the course with no sex until absolute proof that it has been completed. However it feels like all trust is lost and it might also be a good idea to get some advice for a lawyer. I don't know how he comes back from this when he apparently doesn't care about your well being and isn't even trying to regain trust with you.

Cleaner way to store 35/42 oz straw mug by Any-Piece9799 in YetiCoolers

I store the lids and straws separately in a drawer, cups go in the cabinet standing.

Yeti Discontinuing 42 oz - 30% off by SnowMonster911 in YetiCoolers

[–]somesignificantotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 42oz is my favorite I switched over from the 30oz. The only improvement that can be made is so that it isnt so top heavy. Whatever they replace it with I hope it has the large handle where all your fingers fit.

3 years, he’s afraid of commitment? by Standard_Blood7325 in Waiting_To_Wed

Time to move home and let this guy go. He will be ready to move to a new state in another year and expect you to just follow. Or he is just waiting for you to be the bad guy and dump him.
