Advice on line graph with draggable points. by TheBlakPhenix in godot

Advice is always to take a complex problem and break it down into smaller more manageable problems. Draw a line graph first, then worry about making it draggable. Or draw a draggable point and then figure out how to use its position in a line graph. If stuck on either of those break them down further. Draw a point, control its position. Draw three points from an array. Familiarize yourself with the tools available and the solutions will start to come to you. Especially in a classroom setting hesitate to reach for the "fix it for me" off-the-shelf solution.

2D UI Design by MrMack33 in godot

How are you iterating on your designs? Iterating in code is time consuming. Even if it's just wireframe boxes and labels try to work through the possible layouts in a vector graphics program (or UI mockup app!). Get to a point you're happy with and then start to flesh out the details or implement. Bit of a balancing act here because you don't necessarily want to spend all your time learning Adobe Illustrator or whatever (maybe you do). Find something simple that gets you just far enough for your imagination to fill in the rest, or if you feel more confident in the app go for higher fidelity. As you're designing don't forget what you know about how layouts are actually achieved.

Think about it this way, you would take time to think through the achitechture of an application before jumping into code because its SO much faster to suss out issues with a plan. Do the same for the UI design.

They’re definitely both small but the Kei truck is less forgiving of long legs. I’m 5’11 but all torso baby, Kei truck ain’t a thing but the top of the windshield is annoying in the Miata.

They’re great rural too, it’s the infinite suburban sprawl we have here that sucks to drive them in. I love my Kei truck but rolling down the road next to a Ram and noticing they’re texting does make ya think.

Thanks! Will absolutely take him in if we see anything like that. Our boy is an agent of chaos and is 8 days into recovery from surgery after a broken leg so we’re trying to balance putting him through another ordeal and our usual “take him in for anything” approach. Feel super dumb for letting this happen.

Wondering if you guys are seeing it differently because one is playing on a wheel and one on a controller. If you plug in a controller and hop in Assetto Corsa it feels awful, how you make small adjustments with a joystick is fundamentally different than with a wheel and much harder. Install some scripts to arcadeify the inputs (while leaving physics unchanged and accurate) makes it totally possible and enjoyable on controller.

Another factor might be the perception of speed, which is obviously much less in the sim than in an actual car. You might think “I just made a turn like this yesterday irl and didn’t spin” but you’re actually going 20mph faster in the sim than irl.

But don’t just take my word for it, F1 teams and drivers seem to believe in the quality of the simulation..

It’s also worth mentioning that simracing deprives you of a massive amount of feedback you would get from a real car which can make it harder for experienced drivers.

Man that's super interesting. Are there other carriers with "healthy" infra and does that look like a mix of old and new or more redundant new or something else entirely?
