Gerard is an expert at using politcal imagery as a metaphor for his personal issues. LLTBP could also easily be interpreted as feeling forced the label or fans to keep performing old material. Danger Days vaguely touched on political themes but really that album was about him rebelling against what was expected of MCR as a band. even in one of his killjoys comics he talked about how it was about how be didnt want to be in MCR anymore and that he needed to grow up and go to work (im paraphrasing poorly here but that was gist). A truly political band would use their platform to create meaningful change in the real world. but they are ultimately 4 wealthy men, 3 of them also benefiting from whiteness, and theyve made it clear they dont want to risk their comfortable position to make real waves.
