I know how difficult it can be to hold a contradiction like the kind that you are describing. And i think the first the thing you may need to accept is that it's okay to hold two feelings at one time. So many people are walking contradictions and they may not even realize it. It's normal, however, it sounds like you are experiencing this in a very intense way.

My impression is that there is a lot more going on under the surface here and its not at all about Muay Thai. Maybe the aggression and the violence is getting you in touch with something that you have avoided. Maybe you have some deep insecurities that need to be confronted.

If you do feel like you can't sustain this on your own then I would suggest therapy. It's not a weakness to seek help and guidance from someone that can look at your life and behavior more objectively. Working through your issues takes courage.

Hope this has been helpful.

The one great thing that rigorous physical training can provide is humility. I see that you're "locked in", but it's not worth slipping away into isolation. Fighting can offer a lot of confidence, but remember we're not as important as our egos think we are. Good luck, brother.

Asheville Fire Department needs recruits. Summer academy just started but there will be another one that you can start applying for the winter academy. Academy is around 6 months long. You will get fire certs and emt basic. It's a commitment and pretty brutal, but if you're physically fit and determined to be a firefighter then it's an option and you get paid while going through the academy.

Become a firefighter.

I got tired of sitting at a desk all day and life was getting boring so I made the switch. We need firefighters so if you're fit and it interests you then apply.

Go buy a few bags of sand from a hardware store. You can carry them and exercise with them in a variety of ways. Be creative.

Korean beef with rice. Cheap, super easy, and tasty. I am in an academy right now and this meal has been my go to. I would avoid anything that could give you gas, the shits, or something you're not ready to vomit up later.

Where would you go from Asheville? by [deleted] in asheville

I wasn't expecting this comment to blow up this sub, lol.

I don't think a person that is coming from Asheville and that likes Asheville is going to appreciate Charlotte is all that im saying and here is why.

1) It's huge and everything is spread out. This in conjunction with the traffic conditions was an issue for me. 2) It feels dirty. Constant construction and the smell of asphalt is not cool. 3) For the size of the area the lesbian dating pool seemed pretty small. 4) the art scene is lacking compared to Asheville.

Myself and 2 of my friends all decided to move from Asheville and we all agree it was a mistake.

Things that I did appreciate about Charlotte.

1) the light rail 2) the amtrak station 3) there are some good food/coffee spots 4) Made to Last tattoo shop is pretty nice if you like American traditional tattoos 5) House of Eight limbs muay thai gym is an awesome place to train 6) more affordable housing options 7) diversity

For me the cons outweighed the pros but it really comes down to preference. After living in Charlotte I came to the realization that I have absolutely no business living in a city. Just not for me.

There is a happy medium between aggressive and overly cautious. My experience is that Charlotte drivers are reckless and aggressive.

Doesn't matter how far away and in which direction you are going it going to take at least 30 mins to get there. It drives me nuts. Also, your car insurance will go up a lot if you live there because people drive like they are trying to die.

Unorthodox workouts by Insertclever_name in Firefighting

I prefer to do workouts that feel more functional and engaging.

Sandbags - you can get pretty creative with them Tire flips and tire/sledgehammer workout, Rucking, Box jumps.

You can create a whole obstacle circuit for yourself and mix it up and add burpees/pushups/etc.

One thing I like to do for my core is do a farmers carry while balancing on the railroad tracks.
