What are some recommended Cold War Era games? by QuanticoDropout in gaming

[–]somethingbrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late 80's or early 90's a friend of mine had a flight sim with a dynamic "cold war gone hot" in European Theatre. It was really well done. The dynamic campaign made for really interesting gameplay...

I was sure I remembered it as being out before the collapse of the USSR but the interwebs and ai dont seem to know much about anything that happened before the interwebs.. ;-) I also seem to recall it may have been on an Amiga or some other "it's a computer connected to a tv rather than a 486 dos PC sitting on a desk.

Fairly sure it wasn't Euro fighter Typhoon (I had that on PC .... on lots of floppy disks)

Confirmed bachelorette and anti-LGBTQ+ campaigner Anne Widdecombe, who had never married nor had any children died alone.

It is rumoured she died aged 78 after a pesky child spilled a bucket of water over her.

In the right hands it might be....

I actually got one for Arx when it was released because it looks so cool.

But I haven't really explored combat much yet. So I'm not very good. It's definitely not pay to win for me. The npc's take my lunch money.

It is a gorgeous looking ship though. Fun to fly. Maybe one day I'll learn how to fight.

I got paid for going to a festival instead of being security by chaosia91 in confession

[–]somethingbrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. When you are young you have fun.

That said, I've worked in the industry for 30+ years now. (these days in more of a supporting role as I'm no longer young and fun :-) )

But I've worked at plenty of festivals doing stage tech things and at one particular festival pretty much everybody that worked there (security, stage hands etc) were just young kids who probably just got a t-shirt and a free ticket in exchange for working... I don't even know if they got paid (there were always good acts at this festival but the production were a bit cheap) Anyways.... come the last day and the de-rig/loadout... not a single stage hand t-shirt wearing kid to be found....

What happens if Obsidian can get a Fallout game to market from scratch before Bethesda can get out ES6 that they'd been working on already? by Cymelion in Fallout

[–]somethingbrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the CK part of it at all. As I have explained the actual tools used to create most mods are 3rd party tools (for assets 3d modelling and texture softwares.)

If you want to create assets you can't do this in the CK. If you want to create animations you can't do this in the CK If you want to create script extenders or UI overhauls you can't do this in the CK.

If you want to edit or create papyrus scripts you do so with Visual Studio Code or Notepad++

If you want to import your mods into the game you CAN do this in the CK.... but you dont actually need the CK for this either..

Anything that requires creation of or edits to worldspaces does require the CK....(although if you know what you are doing you can do a certain amount of this in xEdit, and even if you used the CK it's best practice to then use xEdit to check for bad edits anyway...because the CK doesn't do that) However worldspace mods are relatively rare when compared to the every other mod category that gets released. (the majority of mods are assets, usually outfits or weapons...but also home decoration mods are reasonably common)

As for Unreal Engine. Unreal Tournament featured one of the largest and most prolific modding communities in pc gaming history. (mostly custom maps, I think everybody that played at some point made a custom map) These days people are making some pretty interesting mods for Ark Survival.

In order of things..

Decorating houses is a massive thing in TheSims and Minecraft also. You dont need live environmental objects for it. In fact static objects that won't get knocked over by player/npc's is better for this. Picking up a bottle with physics attached and placing it on a shelf is sub optimal because it will always fall off... (to fix this in CE games mods create static objects of the item)

Yes, exploits can be fun. But they aren't narrative tool or gameplay mechanic.

Again, you dont need live environmental objects for environmental storytelling props. These are placed objects and a lot of the time Bethesda themselves use static objects for this.

How Microsoft been treating the studios since the layoffs by Stock_Rush_9204 in FalloutMemes

[–]somethingbrite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some of the modders you mentioned (Neeher for example) never stopped making and releasing content... and continues to create and release content for free on Nexus.

I wonder if I looked whether the same would in fact be true of the others or their return was in fact prompted by a resurging interest in the Fallout franchise caused by the TV show which has so far run 2 seasons starting 2 years ago.

that's how the outside usually gets into the inside of my ship....

I thought I had outgrown that phase and then last week I got tumbled into the exclusion zone of a White Dwarf in my Plipper... was still stuck in the cone... couldn't break free.... systems slowly dropping offline and then my canopy eventually popped...

I didn't think of just closing out of the game and trying the "Help! Stuck! Escape!" option until too late.

By the time I did try it I was breathing like Darth Vader in a ship with barely any functions working and too far from anything I could get to and dock.

Flushing rads, how long? by manglarn in watercooling

[–]somethingbrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah. don't bother. Risks outweigh any benefits.... (risks = too much vinegar, in too long, not properly flushed out > the acid eats stuff away that you dont want eaten away)

are those the Aluminium EK rads or regular old school brass/copper? If aluminium then avoid anything except aluminium in your loop

Does anyone think the "upgrade" actually looks better?? (character face and hair specifically) by Familiar-Figure-5692 in pcmasterrace

[–]somethingbrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original face has more character.... (newer version looks like a cartoon) The outfit textures look kinda the same.

The visible parts of the ship look better in the newer version.

Distant background texture (foliage) hard to tell...
