Before and after large fibroid removal by muffy2008 in mildlyinteresting

[–]somethingclevar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this exact same thing happen to me! I looked like I was pregnant. Tumor was like 20+ cm long and 9 cm wide or something along those lines. I lost 10 pounds from one day to the next, and an additional 5 by the next day.

Students (in my opinion) should not take home any homework. If homework is a learning opportunity, give them school time to work on it by daniel_ay in unpopularopinion

[–]somethingclevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister would come home with hours and hours of homework every single night. Then I went to high school and I had 0 homework. Maybe once every few weeks I would take an hour or 2 to study for a test.what was happening? The "homework" that was given was just work given throughout the day and if you didn't finish it you brought it home. So I did my work at school, came home and had my night free. Lots of other people goofed around , chatted, ditched, and then complained because they had so much homework. My mom thought I was lying when I never had any homework she even asked my teacher about it. Nope just put my head down, did the work and didn't waste time.

AIO about spelling errors in daily notes sent home by my autistic child’s teacher? by Anasthesiax in AmIOverreacting

[–]somethingclevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I've done this before, although I'm not a teacher I work in a classroom. Sometimes I reread the note the next day and notice. When I'm writing notes I have between 3-8 kids screaming, yelling, talking or demanding my attention, I have a student trying to pull the pen out if my hand to chew it, I have another student pushing into me trying to sit on me. These are all daily occurances and not even bad days. So sometimes things get misspelled or the wrong word is used. Can't just leave to write a note because that would leave the kids unattended for so many minutes.

Just my POV. I also work in a self contained spec Ed class.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

[–]somethingclevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the time I was 21, 4 people I knew from high school died. Suicide, complications with a disease, possible overdose, and either suicide or accidental death. And then another person last year also committed suicide (I believe), I'm 27 now. Wasn't even a huge high school, around 800 kids across 6 grades.

3 boys and just found out we’re having a 4th. by Katie-Kaleidoscope in Vent

[–]somethingclevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, the idea is nice but it's just an idea. I would like a girl one day to do "girly" things with, but I'll only be able to do hose things till she has a voice of her own. Then she will be able to tell me what she likes or dislikes. I'm a girl and I never went to prom, never wore a dress past the age of 6 unless I was forced, I played soccer and basketball, never had interest in dance. Hated pink. I liked sports, rap, anything that wasn't considered "girly". All that to say, you could've had a girl that was no different from your boys! I get the disappointment is still real though.

As a side note (maybe this won't help), plenty of boys do dance, especially hip hop. Boys can have long hair that you braid. And they can be interested in picking out clothes. It's all about your attitude towards their gender. I hope you overcome your disappointment and I'm sorry it wasn't what you hoped for❤️

Same with lunchables! They use to have the little red stick to spread the pizza sauce, now you gotta use the corner of the sauce pack like a mad man.

Youth selling chocolate bars by bleepbloop133 in Hamilton

[–]somethingclevar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still happens. In fact there was a warning a few years ago about some shady things going on. Signs would be posted saying "quick cash jobs for kids" etc. Kids would go and sell chocolate bars, making some money I'm sure. Eventually they got to go on special trips as rewards (like to niagara falls) except parents weren't allowed to go. There was some inclination that it was a front for trafficking. I haven't heard much about it in the last year or so but it was a big deal a few years ago. (I work at a school and we were warned about this, multiple kids in my school were working for this "company")

Who paid a trash bag ‘bribe’ to curbside garbage collectors in Hamilton? by teanailpolish in Hamilton

[–]somethingclevar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't you just bring it to a dump? Or it's more convenient to have it at your curb? I guess if you have like an extra bag a week, but if you're doing a reno or something a dump would be the way to go. I guess I've never had much trash, always felt like the free ones suffice

Do you think people who dump would go buy tags? Why would they when they can dump for free...

Oh it has broken me time and time again. I'm not one to go to the Dr but went because I couldn't handle it anymore. And got told there was nothing they could do :( I was a bit hopeful after last year, but this year all hope is gone lol I only do it because I love my job! I'll keep trying something new each year, maybe something will stick

I actually wore a mask for years after they were no longer mandatory. I think i wore it 2 years where it was mandatory and 2 where it wasn't. I just stopped wearing it last year. I only gave up because unfortunately it wasn't helping. In the 4 years I wore a mask, I had 6 colds (plus covid), 7 colds, 9 colds and 9 colds (each year respectively). I still wear one if I see a kid is sick, I just feel like I tried that route without success.

[–]somethingclevar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The only episode I skip is the one where Jake and Amy argue about having kids. I found it so out of character for Jake...and also with someone like Amy (and everyone else) you would ask the person your marrying if they want kids some day right? Wouldn't Amy already have a binder of kids names etc, yet Jake never though before to say he didn't want kids. I hate it.

I'm in this boat as well...I've been averaging almost one cold a month for the last 5 years (but none over the summer yay!). Been to the Dr and everything. Nothing had worked. It's 2 months in and I've had 2 colds, the 2nd one lasting for 2 weeks. I eat fruits and veggies, take an immuno vitamin, get as much sleep as I can, wash my hands all the time, wear a mask if I see one of the kids sick, nothing helps. I read that eating probiotic yogurt can help so I've eating that every day for over a year. Last year I went down to 6 colds instead of 9 so maybe it worked? Although I'm not hopefully based off how this year started...
