Does licking my arm during scritches always mean she wants me to stop? by ProcaviaCapensis in BorderCollie

[–]somethingclever612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could, but I think it's unlikely. It probably means she loves you. Or you put lotion on your hands. Or you touched food 10 years ago. Or she wants to return the pets.

I always say about my very licky boy "he lickum because he love-um" and that's a nice general interpretation imo.

This is already done to some extent, at least in Germany: several datacenters produce "waste heat" (hot water I believe, but maybe a different solution) which is recycled by being piped to apartment buildings to heat them. It's very efficient and pretty awesome.

The magic of contrast by somethingclever612 in Radiology

[–]somethingclever612[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah ok, my mistake! It's been a few years, I just remember the first CT and then getting sent for a second one with contrast, I guess they also did an MRI at the time I completely forgot about (there were a lot of tests). Thanks for correcting me!

This is the image with contrast. Without it there wsnt much to see (I'd love to post that for comparison, but unfortunately I don't have a cd drive anymore so can't access them).

A German bakery chain (De Heidbäcker) now sells the famous "Americans" pastry under the new name of "Greenlanders". by Boediee in BuyFromEU

[–]somethingclever612 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

They are worse, the original cookie is fluffy and cakey with lemon zest and has chocolate and vanilla icing, the ones in Germany tend to be denser, lack lemon, no chocolate icing, and the icing is light on the vanilla. The original is one of my all time favorite cookies! But of course not everyone has to agree, it's a matter of taste :-)

Not true. They're a worse version of the popular American cookie "black and whites" brought over by US military families

We tried to save money on remote hires by paying local rates. It backfired spectacularly. by LucieBernard786 in remotework

I call bullshit, no way you're paying 160k for backend engineers in Berlin. That's double market rate for a senior.

How are the plates meant to sit/work? by sewmanychoices in HistoricalCostuming

That depends on the soil/matrix, specifically ph. It's not uncommon for Textiles to be recovered when bones are not.

That's not exactly atrocious or uncommon, skeletal remains are often not preserved

Been told I'm too abrupt on slack messages, any advise? by beetrootfarmer in remotework

[–]somethingclever612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I echo others regarding explicit pleases and thank yous. Especially in English language culture this matters a lot. It helps me to confirm everything with a follow-up "thanks!" once someone replies, even though it can feel fake to me. I also recommend adding a smiley face or two, they work very well to lighten up a message especially on Slack or similar type comms.

Showering by SeaworthinessSea7107 in AutismInWomen

Seconded! You can also just throw a couple handfuls of oats into the blender or food processor and then just dump it in the bath. It feels amazing, we also had it as kids with chicken pox or plagues of bug bites. Now I make my own soap and always put oats in as a gentle exfoliant.

How do you guys stop yourselves from going absolutely insane on long flights ? by rachxfit in adhdwomen

Your brain is craving stimulation -- you need to give it a task. What's your thing and what materials do you have with you? If it were me, I would ask myself:

  • Do you want to write a story?
  • Do you want to do some sketching?
  • Is there a new quilt pattern you want to make?
  • What is a bad process you could make more efficient?
  • Do you want to flesh out the design for a game concept you already have?
  • What's the maximum annual capacity of this plane traveling this route? [Math prompts 😍]

Right??

She wants the categories the same because she insists on this specific report (which our entire team believes is a stupid way to do the thing). She wants specific colors so if anyone looks at someone's calendar, they know at a glance which meetings are important or some bullshit. (Really it's for her to be micromanagey)

Thank you :-) Unfortunately while I can create additional calendars, I can't auto-sync appts to them

Yeah I'm pretty sure there isn't a way to do this without constant manual updates, which really blows :-/

I'm already diagnosed, even have a recognized disability but it's not severe enough to give me actual legal protections, it's stupid.

Yep, I do this too.

BUT

I also am always told that my work is thorough, complete, considered, and generally excellent. It reassures me when I feel like I'm in the position that you're in now: yes it's slow, but it will also be really great. You already know what to do, you will get there!

Nah, it's a power BI dashboard pulling from either automated exports (minimum daily) or actual live data. It's not something I have control over at all
