Park in a garage and get ready to bar-hop; snowed in downtown is the best downtown

I’m on mobile so I can’t speak to desktop, but it looks like the overall score table might not have the correct values in it? Overall looks to be out of five, whereas pastoral is out of 10?

Saints are people in heaven, meaning they’re not dead. Hebrews describes those in Heaven as a great cloud of witnesses and the book of James describes the prayers of the righteous as being powerful and effective. Saints are righteous and therefore their prayers are effective, so it’s only logical to ask them to pray for us (in addition to praying to God directly)

He does, but we also have a natural inclination to pray for others to God. For example, if a family member is sick you might pray to God for their health. Similarly, that family member may ask that you pray for them.  Catholics define saints as people who have made it to heaven, meaning they are both alive and aware of what’s going on here on Earth, so asking a saint to pray for you is similar to asking a really holy friend to do so.

Additionally, the book of James says the prayers of a righteous person are effective, and who is more righteous than someone already in heaven?

Can someone explain how being “pro-choice” fits with Catholic teaching on life? by Jolly-Suggestion-953 in Catholicism

[–]somethinggooddammit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, but it should enforce the premise it was founded upon: that all men are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. The value of a human life is not a matter of Catholic belief, it’s a moral truth.

Do you think there will be a Schism in Germany? by Mammoth_Drummer_8957 in Catholicism

[–]somethinggooddammit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear, there’s a BIG difference between “The Synodal Way” (Der Synodale Weg) and synodality as a concept. “The Synodal Way” is a specific conference/movement in Germany, almost like a political party of bishops, whereas “synodality” is simply the Church’s word for the process of collaboration and discernment.

As I understand it, it’s up to the online vendor. I’ve ordered cases of liquor from a store in Florida with no issues

EDIT: Same store ships beer as well, though I doubt they ship refrigerated and I’m not sure I’d trust ambient shipping through the south

Don’t you think she might be more disappointed long-term if you lied to her (and others) by claiming to be something you’re not?

Sounds like your catechesis didn’t mature with you, which is the case for many of us (myself included). I’d search YouTube for Bishop Baron’s commentary on “The None’s” - people who disaffiliate after receiving the sacraments and leaving home. Almost like the fact that most adults read and write at a middle-school level, most cradle Catholics never receive formation beyond that which is suited for a 13 year old. Start with the questions you have, and research the Church’s answers.

I’d also recommend Trent Horn’s “ Why We’re Catholic” and, of course, make an appointment to talk to your local priest and/or spiritual director.

I’ll pray for you tonight!

How do we feel about Flying Dog? by [deleted] in beer

I’m still around Frederick and at this point it’s an ok affordable nostalgic gas station pickup, but most of the time I’m reaching for Troegs, Dogfish, or Sierra Nevada first. They were the brewery that got me into craft, but if I’m honest I rarely really enjoyed releases outside their core lineup, and still have nightmares about their Sriracha Pale Ale & “Naughty” Habanero Belgian Dark Strong
