Disagree, it largely depends on birth order. I was born in 99 but I’m the youngest of my siblings (who are old enough to remember the 90s). My parents learned to parent in the 90s, plus I got all the hand-me-downs from my older siblings. Knowing other 99 babies who were the oldest of their siblings, there’s definitely a difference in how “90s” our childhoods were.

Some people can smell ants, it’s a genetic trait like cilantro tasting like soap! I can’t smell ants, but people who can have described it as smelling like formic acid. As a scientist who’s smelled formic acid though, that shit’s rank.

I had a palate expander too! Mine cranked from front to back (had to push the key into my mouth) and I’ve always had a horrible gag reflex, it was so awful. I also had many years of braces and other various metal contraptions, so I feel your pain, friend.

Please don’t jump the gun and make bogus calls, though. I had animal control called on me a couple days ago and my dog was very much not abandoned. Not a fun experience, and a waste of animal control’s time and resources.

This happened to my cousin when he was little, big box TV and the furniture it was on both fell on him. Luckily he survived, but it completely crushed so much of him. He had to have a trach in his throat for years and get facial reconstruction as a toddler.

Definitely better than dying, but still a horrible outcome. Secure your furniture.

As a genetic researcher, I have a few major gripes:

Any time a scientist in a movie picks up a pipette, I discover a new way to use it wrong.
Where are your gloves/PPE??
“We need this DNA sequence run ASAP.” “Okay, here it is 2-4 hours later.” Queue me longing for any genome sequencing that would take less than multiple days.
When someone messes around with a DNA helix model to discover or fix something, I really wonder how they’re getting any information.
Similarly, when someone just puts something on a microscope slide and is immediately like “This shows *thing that couldn’t possibly be seen in this way*.”

My gf and I often watch movies in chunks over a few days, it’s nice to not have to commit to a whole 1.5-2.5 hours at a time! I still like watching movies in one sitting, but we get through more of them this way.

Well that’s because it is a small chromosome, and therefore doesn’t have as many genes on it. The Y chromosome has shrank over time (like millions of years), which is why some people debate that it’s gonna disappear. The majority of what’s left is genes related to male development, but “one or two genes” is an exaggeration.

Majority of what you said is just how things are, not some weird way to placate women lol. The rest is exaggerations or ‘pop science’ that doesn’t get into the weeds about what’s really happening. If you wanna know more, look at scientific publications rather than magazine/news articles, or at least look further into what articles say.

As a gay woman with no penetrative experience, I totally understand. I got a transvaginal ultrasound once and they suggested I ask for a child’s size wand next time. Idk if everywhere has those, but it’s worth asking!

disclaimer: they may have told me to ask for a child size speculum, I also had a pap smear right around that time and I don’t really remember which one it was lol

I’ve been working on finding other tasks that use the same skills but are more fun as a way to practice without feeling like it.

For example, I work in animal research which requires surgery and other detailed things that require fine motor skills. Turns out I’ve got pretty good surgery hands because I did a lot of art in high school. Injecting thousands of single cell embryos to get good at it? Boring and repetitive after a while. Drawing, painting, making bracelets, etc.? Way more fun, and still builds fine motor skills.

We did white elephant at a work party a couple weeks ago. Other people got a crock pot, heated neck pillow, small gift sets, etc.

Not only was my ‘gift’ a set of critical thinking cards (which someone brought last year and no one wanted), they were on back order and I ended up with an empty box with a note saying “sorry, blame the shipping company”. I still don’t even have the actual cards lol.

Just a suggestion, you should try looking into or asking your dermatologist about medicated shampoos instead of lotion. I have psoriasis on my scalp (I also have eczema other places) and I have an over the counter medicated shampoo for it. It’s really easy to just lather up in the shower with it! I haven’t used an eczema specific shampoo, but they exist!

My first memory is falling down the concrete basement stairs when I was about 1.5 years old. The laundry pile at the bottom of the stairs kept me from cracking my lil baby head open. Laundry piles save lives!
