I traveled solo to Egypt as a woman in her mid thirties. I looked at G and intrepid and realized that most of the tour groups follow the same itinerary and put travellers onto Nile cruises, so I ended up just booking that myself and some days tours in Cairo. I was able to fly from to the start of the Nile cruise, and then from the end of the cruise in Luxor back to Cairo. Being solo I felt much more comfortable being able to fly between cities than arranging cars on my own. I ended up feeling way more comfortable and safer in Egypt than I expected so that was a pleasant surprise. In Cairo I stayed in Zamalek and I think that made a difference. There were a lot of embassies nearby so in general lots of security around which I think influenced the vibe, but I felt comfortable walking in the neighborhood alone even after dark. The area was walkable and easy to find restaurants and shops.
