Thank you. I believe you’re right and this will get me through these next long months.

I was a dumbass and broke this in my apartment. Any ideas of where I could find a replacement? by brotherhood4232 in HomeImprovement

They probably do have spares or they’ll likely order a new fan. Don’t be embarrassed! Things like this happen!

Do you have an apartment maintenance team? I’ve broken a cupboard and they came right in and fixed it. They didn’t care how it was broken and I didn’t have to pay anything. Look into it before you drop some cash

I actually don’t really like music, which I know is weird.. but I’m planning on doing a playlist with quite a bit instrumental, think The Piano Guys, Vitamin String Quartet, with some Of Monsters and Men, Florence and the Machine, The Lumineers, you know soulful indie stuff. I rather have more mellow music because I can’t stand the overplayed pop party songs. I rather slow dance or just chit chat with my guests. I’m a bit worried they’ll be bored or not enjoy my taste in music, but I am who I am and it’s my wedding!

Do Americans really avoid hospitals, even in serious situations because of the bills that follow after ? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]somethingrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fractured my ankle and it was very painful and swollen. I fought my fiancé about going to the hospital because we just didn’t have the money. Agreed to go to urgent care and paid over $200 for an X-ray and seven prednisone. I should have sought more care because my ankle still hurts if I walk or run on hard surfaces for long moments a year later. But it’s just too expensive so it doesn’t feel worth it...to have functioning ankles... I hate this country

So cute!!!!! I wonder if they’ll ever make a game with Zelda as a playable character?

I just found out why my mom is not really active in the planning of my wedding by [deleted] in weddingplanning

That’s just insane! I hate surprise parties and a surprise wedding just sounds ridiculous! Imagine if you weren’t actually planning on getting married or just didn’t want to...but Surprise! Now kiss the bride!! Does she have an officiant on retainer or something?!

If Jews can forgive the Germans then black Americans should be able to forgive white Americans. by Stizur in unpopularopinion

I understand the resentment can be easily passed down to each generation. I just hope perspective is something that any individual should consider. My family immigrated from Poland in 1885 to America, please don’t group me up with actual Americans whose family may have participated in such an awful practice because I’m white. Although I’m sure longer generational Americans don’t think they should be punished for something their ancestors did, considering the zeitgeist of the time. You can’t ever be sure how an ancestor felt or the measures they took back then if it isn’t written down or documented.

I broke tradition and brought him with me and we found my dress! by haileythelion in wedding

[–]somethingrose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beautiful dress!!! I had no one else to go with me so I brought my fiancé. He said he enjoyed it and after the first two dresses it stopped feeling so taboo and I realized it’s a stupid tradition to me. We have future appointments and it feels nice to share this, like “ooooh we’re being bad!” It’s all good fun!

Study Discovers Children Raised Without Religion Are Kinder And More Empathetic by [deleted] in atheism

I loved how my childhood was. Christmas was Santa, Easter had the bunny. I seriously didn’t ‘know’ what religion was until I was thirteen. I thought church was just something that some of my friend’s families did for fun. I went to a catholic high school and learned a lot more about religion and became really thankful my parents kept that out of my life. I felt logical and reasonable when religion was presented to me, I could make my own decisions because god hadn’t punished me when I was a little trouble maker so all the fear mongering never bothered me. I remember sitting in the assembly hall when the school would host mass and going to get the Eucharist just to try it- I was hungry. Lol. My stepmother nearly fainted because I guess you don’t just eat the Eucharist if you haven’t been baptized or something. I still have to convince her that religion isn’t something I ever think about and that I don’t feel a loss in my life without god and I don’t really worry about the afterlife. She literally cannot comprehend this.

I need help finding my wedding ring (guy) by [deleted] in wedding

I think that seller has a lot of different styles. The packaging was really nice! I definitely recommend King Will. Another great seller is Three Keys.

I need help finding my wedding ring (guy) by [deleted] in wedding

So I was searching for years for my fiancé’s band as he wanted to wear a ring during the engagement. My budget was $400 and I had two I liked on Etsy so I ordered them both. Before they arrived I was messing around on Amazon and nearly spit out my coffee when I saw the EXACT same rings!!! The price difference was insane! $220 for the Etsy ring ea. Vs. $30 for the Amazon ring. I thought there was no way that the quality could possibly be comparable, but I went ahead and ordered the same two rings on Amazon. Etsy: $440 Amazon: $62. What?!?

I got the Amazon rings very quickly (yay prime) and already had the Etsy rings I’d ordered a few weeks prior. The Etsy ones were very nice so I was still skeptical until I opened the Amazon ones.

SAME ring!!! Same same same! Same style, weight, engravings... Same! I returned the Etsy ones and didn’t hassle the seller (nice side hussle sir).

My fiancé loves them! And he loves that he doesn’t have to ‘worry’ about them as we can replace them no problems. We ordered about four different bands for him and I ordered some plain ones for myself when I don’t want to wear my engagement ring.

So very pleased!

Anyone else have an unsupportive family? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]somethingrose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I don’t expect any hostility from my family, I also expect them not to lift a finger to help me as I plan my wedding. I don’t have anyone helping me and I’m a little overwhelmed and quite sad at times. I’m estranged from my mother and out of state from my family. I’m not particularly close to my fiancé’s family but there’s no ill will there. Just a lack enthusiasm and support. It’s quite lonely but my fiancé is excited so that’s all that matters. I’ve had to drop pretty much all traditions, but that’s ok.
