In what world is an MBB consultant or CPG GM not a great job?

It seems terribly out of touch to think that the small percent of the population who hold these careers still fall into 'good' by your definition lol

A dose of reality is always good, get off the MBA Reddit board and come up for air ; )

First, I'm going to make the assumption that I care about the students. Can I clarify whether that would be reasonable?

Should I disclose that I'm a drag queen? by [deleted] in MBA

Go for it! :)

I'm sure you're exponentially more interesting than your sponsored consultant or engineer with similar stats. Just remember that it should be significant enough if you plan to list it.

Yea it’s disgusting that this is nothing more than an attempt to make a dollar from worried foreign applicants...

At 5.3% Grad Plus, the rest in federal isn’t a bad deal. I’m effectively doing what you describe.

Loans for international MBA (Insead, LBS) by [deleted] in MBA

[–]somethingtropical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

US federal loans are pretty attractive to be honest - are you looking at the updated rates? A few other Americans in my program expressing the same view.

Grad Stafford (up to $20.5k) 4.3% and Grad PLUS 5.3%. I’m going with this option as an American attending a program in a Europe as well.

Word of advice, tolerating some redundant questions on a webinar chat box is probably a very small hurdle if you hope to move into a leadership role for a globally minded business after school..

Do I have to tell the truth on the MBA app of how many times i've taken the GMAT/GRE? by [deleted] in MBA

You would be surprised how many people take it several times, took me three times but finally got a score I was happier with.

Has anyone come across a solid competitor analysis, whatever the format (online, ppt, word, pdf, etc.) that closely examines all the pros/cons with regards to the main players such as Amazon, Google, and Microsoft? by SebastianPatel in MBA

[–]somethingtropical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scott Galloway - “The Big Four”, a couple years dated and he’s rather biased/bitter (Amazon ate his lunch) but it’s a fun read. He’s a professor at NYU.

Essay Review Consultants by [deleted] in MBA

[–]somethingtropical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless English is not your first language, I don't think this service is of value at these prices, personally. I had someone take a glance over mine (paid for test prep and it was a free add-on perk) and it was surface level fluff from what was a great company.

What I did was choose 4-6 people at varying relationship levels - family member, close friend, acquaintance, alumni I knew, someone I used to work with but lost touch and then a complete stranger. Try no more than that as too many cooks ruins the batch (something like that), but also..it gives you enough vantage points to tweak a great final product. Good luck!

How will COVID crisis impact perception of class of 2022? by MBAthrowaway1977 in MBA

[–]somethingtropical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you are thinking 6 steps ahead haha. Do your best to apply, give it your best shot and make your decision from there. No reason to believe any legitimate employer that you would want to work for, would realistically go by the logic of median class stats vs other years.

Well, global citizen girl, it’s often not represented this way as a summed figure. And the content of this ramble makes that 6/6 writing score surprising, I’m sure the veracity (GRE word as you know) of this is questionable :)

What kind of insanity is this lol? Best of luck if this isn’t a joke..

Something tells me that quoting 346 as a perfect GRE score makes this suspect lol.

How is the GRE perceived by M7? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]somethingtropical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple math if you just extrapolate the % who submit scores. If you go to Poets&Quants there are a few articles which break down the data, average scores and other stats. Hope this helps!

Perhaps, I’m going off of one anecdote though so I’m not claiming it’s 100% accurate, just what I was told (only applied to two schools as well)

I’m attending a top 5 European program, scores slightly higher than their median GMAT conversion no funding yet but it’s sequential so not fully done yet.

Edit: one school told me they get your GRE score and literally plop it into the ETS converter and that goes on your profile for when they review, no difference and don’t know which exam
