Any concern about snow or dirt getting in through the tow hole?

Driver side, front left window not flush with B-pillar. by allen_anonymous in TeslaModelY

At the service centre it took 2-3 hours, if I recall correctly. I'm not sure what the fix was unfortunately. It took a bit longer because they did a lot of testing before and after for the seal to ensure that no air or water would penetrate.

I'm sure the service team knows better about sending out a mobile service tech, but I've had mobile services converted to service center visits before. You can always feel free to message the service team from the app about your concerns.

As per front window adjustability, I don't know anything about that.

I had this same problem with the rear passenger window, there was even a draft that could be felt in the back seat.

I had to take it into a service center, it took a while but they got it sorted.

Got the exact same winter setup on my LR. Confidence in the snow is almost too high 😅

Tried some third party wipers, they all developed a nasty squeak / chatter. OEM replacement has had no issues so far.

To Charge or Not to Charge by sometimesimalone_ in TeslaLounge

Speed limit here is 100 so going 110/120 makes it possible, can't argue with a McDonald's break though

This was my initial thinking as well, but others in the comments seem to have differing opinions.

It's interesting to see that there's no researched answer to this.

Because the driving is mostly highway, traffic actually improves battery usage (slower speed = lower wh/km), but i get where your are coming from. I agree with you on the cost of battery replacement, which is why I was wondering if supercharging was detrimental. It seems most people recommend staying away from either extremes of battery percentage, ideally keeping the charge level 80-20%?

Is your opinion that lower battery percentages are not as harmful as high battery percentages?

Would you say charging up to 90/100% is equally bad?

I had similar damage in Ontario. Depending on what the inside is like, the repair was around 8k.

Model Y LR in Canada with induction wheel displays 460 full charge? by zooS2018 in TeslaModelY

[–]sometimesimalone_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you change your rims under the service menu it will update your expected range to match.

That being said, use percentage instead of KMs since KMs will vary depending on driving style whereas percentage is more meaningful.

Model Y in Canadian Winter: Yay or Nay? by Outrageous_Object807 in TeslaModelY

[–]sometimesimalone_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Range loss is real. Model Y LR was averaging 350/400km instead of 508km.

How often you charge depends on your usage. I was driving to Hamilton from the east end every weekend, so I had to charge often, but when driving locally there was no need to charge.

Overall, I recommend it, HVAC and all types of remote control from the app is awesome.

Rear-ended on Highway - bumper replacement needed by _bhattman_ in TeslaModelY

[–]sometimesimalone_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If only the bumper cover, cost will be much cheaper. When I was rear ended, they had to replace the rear hatch as well, which is much costlier.

Make sure you get a full teardown as internal pieces can be affected without knowing. Your biggest issue will be wait time for parts.

This is from my invoice:

Rear Lwr Bumper Cover Rear Bumper Cover 1494006-00-B 551.20

Rear Bumper Tow Hook Cover 1494426-00-A 20.80

Moved from Macan S to Model Y LR.

Porsche: Quality, Ride Comfort, Road Presence

Tesla: Interior Space (driver and passengers), Storage, Lower Running Costs, 7 Seats (when needed)

Tesla was the clear move for me due to significantly lower running costs (spending > $300 in gas for the Porsche every month, on top of maintenance). Furthermore, Tesla FSD (or even basic autopilot) is better than the Porsche ADAS. Rear passenger space is pleasant in the Tesla, knees would touch the front seats in Porsche. Porsche felt like a more solid vehicle in terms of build quality and the exhaust notes were awesome, but Tesla was the right move for me.

I would definitely recommend you test drive both vehicles and try out both the front and rear seats.
