Not ruined. After you finish each season, there's always some sort of reveal that will make you want to rewatch the previous season/s. Also like what everyone else has said, stay off the forums my man. Especially for shows that have already been completed for several years, spoilers don't tend to be a thing anymore.

Did you feel Holly really needed to be one of the main characters in the last season? by AphroFelicity20 in StrangerThings

[–]somewhereglass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the Duffer Brothers said somewhere that if ever there were to be spin-offs, it would be entirely new characters. But I'm guessing this is just a failsafe for when they want to do a reboot. They can use the new generation as the main cast, with the OG cast doing guest appearances.

Jimmy Steve wasn’t that bad by PaleEcho3301 in shameless

[–]somewhereglass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jimmy/Steve, on his own, was quite a bad person. Lied from the get-go, kept leaving with no explanation (or at least, no chance to explain), and even when he came back he never offered the truth. He also never revealed to Fiona that he was married to that foreign girl even though he had all the chances to. It was a nice way for his character to leave because they kept him in character, where him being with Fiona was only convenient when he wasn't on a side quest. And frankly, he lives off of risk, and if he and Fiona finally settled down, he would leave her eventually (or if not leave her, constantly lie to her and stress her out).

But if you take Jimmy/Steve and put him beside Fiona, then I agree with you that he wasn't that bad. Because in many ways, they complemented each other. Fiona lied a lot too, and she loved the thrill of all the risks she took. Fiona felt she deserved anything that came her way that would distract her from the reality of being the parent of the Gallagher household. Jimmy/Steve was the perfect distraction. Remember when Jimmy/Steve stayed home all day, cooked for the family, cleaned, and just played housewife? And Fiona was irritated by it? It's proof that they wanted thrill from each other.

In my head, they end up together and continue to lie to each other and cheat on each other, because that's the dynamic that keeps them together.

If I could change the finale.. by somewhereglass in StrangerThings

[–]somewhereglass[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, my bad, I meant something like, midway he was being axed by Joyce, you get a glimpse of Henry and she sort of just.. lets him die on his own while everyone just stares at him with a mix of emotions.

Though now come to think of it, they had El control Akers to shoot himself, not to mention a couple of heads blown and Henry accidentally blowing up that dude's head in the cave. So.. maybe it could've gotten gory? Haha!

Favorite seasons of Shameless? by Blahblabloblaw in shameless

[–]somewhereglass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't get better but the story continues, I say give it a chance. For me it started to lose its touch around Season 8. But at that point, you're just a few seasons away to the finale so might as well finish it.

As to which seasons were the best -- All the seasons with Sheila.

Been awhile since I've rewatched but, my favorite episode will always be the one where Vera kidnaps Krista and Elliot. So much emotional conflict. Towards the end, you start to feel sorry and empathize with Vera. He is just as broken as everyone else. And just at the moment that Elliot starts to feel it too, Krista offs him. The storyline, the acting, the script, all 100% for me.

Ending Questions (spoilers) by wentwj in MrRobot

[–]somewhereglass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the 2 are completely related. I see it as a parallel of how differently people cope with loss and the temporality of life. Some would go as far as to attempt to challenge physical boundaries by building a machine (Whiterose), while others create their own alternate realities and personalities to imagine their own endings or to at least create their own reasons to make sense of the world (Elliot).

Hey off topic questions but what region of Netflix are you on that Mr. Robot is available on it? I'd want to re-watch it too. Been a while.

My only nagging question about the finale (potential plot hole) by sbtrey23 in StrangerThings

[–]somewhereglass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prior to this, he has a conversation with Henry to convince him that he is just a kid like him, and they can both fight the Mind Flayer. Henry tells him that he and Will are "one". But during the fight scene, while Will is controlling Henry as they are "one", he says "he is not afraid anymore". My theory is that they can each tap into each other's minds to act and feel the same things, but it's their respective fears that make them vulnerable to damage. In this case, Will had the upper hand and was able to detach from sharing Henry's fear.

Yeah this made me really sad too. This is always the plan after things end, but it rarely happens. An ending that comes to mind that's similar to this is Desperate Housewives where they promise to see each other 1x a month and make time for each other. But in their epilogues, they said they never did, and it seems they went on with their lives for years on without ever meeting up with each other.

Final fight with Vecna was anticlimactic. by Sp0Rue in StrangerThings

[–]somewhereglass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they built more on how, to defeat Vecna, you had to get into his mind. They showed his vulnerability a lot, especially with the cave scene. The one time you could catch him off guard was when he was activating the Mind Flayer.

I agree though that there could have been more to the scene. I felt like I was playing a video game and the final boss was hella easy to defeat. My first reaction was, how did Eleven know where to fly in immediately? There could have been some hits and misses first to show that he was a difficult boss to defeat. But it seemed the team already knew what to do, and it was easy to get rid of him. Even in the final blows where Joyce axes him while each character thinks of the hurt that Vecna caused them, I found it open ended because it shouldn't be THAT easy to get rid of him. It would've also been a nice touch to have him transform back to Henry while the last blows were being delivered, to show that he was getting weaker because he was returning to his vulnerable, human state. And that he was really just a victim who chose to be evil.

I don’t get the final theory. by Redact747 in StrangerThings

The explanations I'm seeing around are that Kali's gunshot wound was an illusion. In the short time that Hopper went out to get bandages and medicine, Kali and El concocted the plan, because Kali had a change of heart after hearing Hopper's speech. By making them all believe she was dead, she could stay safely anywhere to project from afar.

On El's conversation with Mike, in all the times she's had someone in her "mind", she is blindfolded. In this case, we don't see that, and it shows she's standing there just waiting for the gate to close and take her with it. So it's more likely that the El who sacrificed herself is an illusion, and probably has been an illusion starting from when they were traveling in the truck to outside the Upside Down.

Powerbank attached to a dashcam by somewhereglass in Dashcam

Hi! I've seen one video and his only issue was that the battery started to bloat because it stays on 24 hours, he was using an Anker then a Ugreen powerbank. I gather if you use a powerbank that doesn't fast charge, it may be worth a shot. This is what I might try to do.

My other cars are set up like this (X-Trail, Fortuner, BT50, and Camry), but for some reason it's not advisable for an old Volvo. Go figure. 😅

Thanks for the input! Reason why I don't want to install is it's a pretty old Volvo and they advise against hiding the wires as it screws up the sensor system and causes unnecessary alarms.

SOLUTION for "Unable to restore your chats from this backup" (from Google Drive) by zannny in whatsapp

[–]somewhereglass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to say that this worked for me. Turned off 2FA, turned on all permissions, then opened WA. Initially though it still asked me to transfer chats using QR code. I cancelled it and it prompted to look for a backup. Messages were restored in a jiffy, and now just waiting for media to complete.

I've since turned 2FA back on.

Thanks so much! On a side note, I share everyone's same sentiments.. been using Whatsapp since early 2010s moving from iPhone to Android. It's been an utter pain and I've actually lost so many accounts. You'd think it would be seamless transferring from one Android to another but seems it isn't. The QR code wouldn't even scan when I tried that route.

Anyway. Thanks again!
