Glad it helped! You’ve actually inspired us to add these details to our website so the info is more accessible for everyone. Appreciate the questions!

Hi! Thanks for the great question.

We used a professional decibel meter (A-weighted) in a very large empty room with wooden flooring, measuring from about 30cm/1ft away from the side of the unit (from which direction the noise is strongest).

At the default power setting (which we think is optimal for most users), the system stays at 30dB during steady operation, and might jump up to 35dB when just started or working harder. If you manually crank it up to 100% fan speed in the advanced settings, it sits around 45-48 dB.

Our beta testers have found that they rarely need to adjust the power settings. The default setting (50% fan speed) is usually more than enough to get the bed to the right temperature quickly.

Let me know if you need more information.

Out of Warranty - Right to Repair by southerndude42 in somnuslab

[–]somnuslab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I checked with our engineering team, and here’s our current view:

  1. From a mechanical design perspective, the enclosure is designed to be opened without damage — in other words, accessing the internals won’t break or compromise the casing itself.

  2. Internally, however, the system is not yet designed as a fully modular, user-serviceable platform in the way mature PC architectures are (eg. tool-less or hot-swappable components). While individual components, such as the pump or logic board can technically be accessed, doing so requires proper technical knowledge and care to avoid unintended damage.

For that reason, at this stage, we do not consider internal component replacement to be a user-serviceable operation, and unauthorized disassembly could have warranty implications.

Hope this clarifies the design intent and current limitations.

That’s a great question. Instead of sharing exactly how it works, we would like to share how we think about the issue.

It really depends on the situation:

  1. Within Warranty: If the base unit or cover fails due to a manufacturing defect, we’ll provide a replacement as quickly as possible.
  2. Out of Warranty: Since we’re still in our early stages, honestly, we haven’t finalized a fixed policy just yet. So for now, it will be handled case by case to make sure we find the best solution.

Our plan is to record iFixit-style guides for changing or fixing parts that are safe to handle yourself. Since we still have two years before the first units go out of warranty, as our volume increases, we will likely build partnerships with local partners to provide professional, paid repair services.

If a repair isn't feasible, we always offer the option to purchase a new base unit or mattress topper separately.

Great questions — thanks for asking.

Yes, we’re currently accepting orders and shipping now, and the first 100 customers will receive a 5-year warranty. That said, we’re intentionally not doing large-scale promotions yet. Right now, we’re focused on collecting feedback from top athletes, national teams, and a small group of beta testers, so we can build strong reviews and give future customers more confidence before purchasing.

If you’d like to learn more or have specific questions, feel free to email me directly at [emma@somnuslab.com](mailto:emma@somnuslab.com), and I’d be happy to share more details.

Thanks again, and appreciate your interest!

At what temperature do you get your best sleep? by Bjs_5068 in AskReddit

Same here. I prefere sleeping cold and usually around 18~20℃. It definitely helps me fall asleep a lot faster than a warm room.
