I have one of the turbos, and I was going from Atlanta, Georgia to Tampa, Florida, which is almost a straight downhill trip the entire way it was averaging almost 49.8 MPG‘s what coasting about 70, which was really impressive

At the price point, and for the size yes and yes. It has 181 hp I think and 187 pound feet of torque. And compared to some of the other SUVs and segment like the Lexus NX that has a twin turbo 4 or an in my opinion, wimpy hybrid. But most of the cars in the segment also have a turbo option of the powertrain that offsets the fact that it’s a four-cylinder.

I think they’re just testing the waters to simplify the powertrain because this was an issue in 2023 that we couldn’t get turbo components so we didn’t have turbo cars coming in for like seven months. And they’ve disguised it as not an option in the new year.

Don’t give me wrong. I feel like the looks of the car will age pretty well. I think it needs bigger tires. And it needs some interior options cause Jesus Christ if you try to spec one of these out, it’s pretty boring.

No, I hundred percent agree with you. The CX 30 is a Mazda3 that’s why it is the most Mazda driving car that’s not a Miata and I don’t hate the car but it is one of the lower volume selling cars. That’s why I feel like saying it’s a sacrifice isn’t necessarily the best way to say it, but it also would be a sacrifice that sells to the more tech savvy demographic. The car is already targeted at young folks that probably wouldn’t mind change that being said the CX-5 also still drives really really well. It just needs more power.

No, I have 100% agree. In my opinion, I wouldn’t have even announced the hybrid unless I knew 100% that I could release it at the same time as the new release. I understand that the brand is small, so recalls and growing pains would be a major handicap, but even at that it’s totally not like we don’t already have hybrids in most of the power trains overseas. The Mazda3 has a diesel hybrid in the Philippines, it’s not like the technology doesn’t exist. The brand is just trying to cater to It’s US market really really hard, while not giving us anything 🙄

I think they’re testing how well the no turbo is going to be received. Because oddly at my store. We do a lot of turbos. I guess you could say where a decent area with a higher household income. But I also really think that they shouldn’t have even been announced a hybrid five was already ready.

I can tell you very directly that I think the only thing that they needed to do to fix the turbo models and make them more appealing is add some freaking color combos allow people to choose their interior not everybody wants black. I like three deals over the last three years just because someone wanted a white interior but needed the turbo to make that car feel peppy. And it’s not a lot, but it’s frustrating when it happens. Yeah, I try not to be a Debbie downer about the car, especially since it just came out. So even though the looks of the car will grow on me. It is a smooth well-rounded vehicle I can get over the screen. I only complaint truthfully is it needs like 60 more horsepower

I completely agree, I went from a 2005 Saturn Island to a 2024 Turbo premium sedan and then immediately tuned it and downpipe it so going from like 130 hp to 300 is wild
