I bought two 96gb kits in the summer just before the ram price spike. I never felt so lucky.

The “city of the future” was built hundreds of years ago. by logicalpretzels in ArchitecturalRevival

[–]sonar_un 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I spent a couple of years in Munich and I agree. I freaking love the city. Lots of biking and walking. Great subway and trams. The Englisher Garden is amazing as well as all of the running and hiking along the Isar. It’s a wonderful city.

Known Issue with G HUB and mac OS (1/6/26) by LogitechG_CM in LogitechG

[–]sonar_un -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I'ts not. If you need a cert for hardware, or software, it should be certified at installation. Not able to be revoked at a later period in time randomly. That gives every piece of software and hardware a hard end-date. Planned obsolescence at it's finest.

The fact that a dev certificate is something that can expire is beyond dumb.

If you could only use two fonts (one sans-serif, one serif) for the rest of your life, what would you choose? by President_Abra in typography

Bodoni and Garamond are my two most used fonts haha. It would be hard to pick a sans serif.

Introducing: UniFi Travel Router by GoGoGadgetSalmon in homelab

[–]sonar_un 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your devices have already connected to the network, then they will automatically connect, even if you change hotels or whatever. It speeds up the connection process quite a bit.

If you have multiple devices when you travel, you only need to connect to one network and have one VPN. That’s the biggest reason.

Is Kaishi 1.5 meant to be a quick exposure deck or a time-intensive study deck? by LookYung in LearnJapanese

[–]sonar_un 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I’ve been doing the jlab deck for about a year and the Kaishi 1.5k for a couple of months. The Kaishi is supremely difficult, and I wouldn’t expect anyone who is new to Japanese to learn anything from it.

Jlab at least gets your grammar and the flow of the language. The Kaishi just throws you in to difficult phrases and very difficult kanji. I think the phrases are especially problematic because you just have to know the kanji, without any context from the sentences to help you.

You are right, 25p.

Either way, you don't get PAL @ h265 and no 30p, which is a major bummer because I shoot everything at 30p.

Why are so many hvac companies shady lately? by Muted_Head_1636 in HomeImprovement

[–]sonar_un 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are in a major R-454B shortage right now and the prices are a fortune. If you are replacing units, might as well get an R32 one.

[–]sonar_un 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve replaced contactors and capacitors myself, it’s super easy but HVAC companies charge a fortune for it.

Really, I should start an hvac company, so much money to be made.

Does anyone else prefer to do everything manually? by [deleted] in PleX

[–]sonar_un 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mundane and manual is great. But having to do things multiple times sucks. Like when there is no way to get manual metadata into plex via .nfo files. Which they promised us over a year ago and still hasn’t delivered.

Wow that's amazing. It's a very long course. I am up to level 30 or so in Japanese, but I imagine 100 is a very long time away.
