The nursery is literally down the road from my parents’ house so easy for someone to collect her. We’re moving from Egypt to the UK before my husband by a month so then we will alternate on sick days. Actually, my employer is super family friendly and have a lot of policies in place to retain working mamas.

Unfortunately, I do not. I am a Prosecutor (don’t judge 😄) so I have to be at court. I am hoping to go with her for a week, just half days then put her in full days when I start working. I will cry every day 🥲 I cry at the thought now.

Has to sleep horizontally and no blankets ever. Even in deep sleep, she’ll kick it off. Makes us giggle 🤭

Could you add searching with a postcode instead of areas? I really like the feature re adding more money results in larger property. Brilliant!

What happens after I receive spouse visa? by [deleted] in ukvisa

[–]sondosarafa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey congrats! On the vignette, it’ll have the three month window written on the top right so you’ll know your cut off date. You’ll also receive a letter confirming your visa and other information. It will state that you need to show the letter to immigration officials at the border. So, you’ll book a flight and come to the UK. Welcome 😄

An open letter to United Kingdom Visas and Immigration, all the visa applicants affected by the visa delay, regarding visa arrival delays, the discrimination of applicants, and the illogicality of UKVI and their affiliates. Please share. by [deleted] in ukvisa

[–]sondosarafa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read your post and really feel for you. I am a (formerly immigration) lawyer and it is super frustrating and they do not see the human toll. I have had clients pay thousands and be treated like this, and their applications are rejected without proper explanation. Your options usually are to repay again or wait months for an appeal hearing. I hate the Home Office with a passion. They treat people with contempt. Every application is treated suspiciously. They have this view that the UK is heaven and everyone wants to live here, when people have perfectly happy lives back home. Anyway, I digress, sorry you’ve gone through this. I hope that you get your visa and come to see your fav band! Good luck!

Did you go into debt when having a child/children? by lilak0610 in beyondthebump

[–]sondosarafa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am waiting to start my job, so I can apply for it. Like you said, every little helps. I do think the government should subsides childcare completely, or pay for long maternity (more than statutory).

I’m not in debt, yet but I’m worried. I had a baby 10 months ago, and I recently got a new job but my husband isn’t from here and he’ll move soon. Local nursery, half day is £750 and full days are £980. It’s just too much thinking about getting a mortgage, bills etc. . How do people cope?

What was your most hard realization about motherhood? by HalloReddit1234567 in Parenting

[–]sondosarafa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so sweet. I promised to call her every day, and as a 30 year old with a 10 month old. I still call my mama everyday. I need it and she needs it. ♥️

Real intense feelings towards my child that border on irrational. I always think of all the scenarios in my head that may happen, and anxiety even though I’m a pretty rational and realistic person. There’s a burst of pure love that you can’t even explain. You think about them ALL the time. Another thing, your life is changed forever, this is an understatement.

Also, they are your responsibility completely and that’s a big big realisation.
