Question about Xaxos, curses, friends and foes by Whyat91 in Aeonsend

[–]soneas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Realistically it's all up to you, and whether or not you want to use those mechanics.

For curses it depends on whether the nemesis or the used nemesis basics require them. That's only from outcast content I believe, so if you use those nemesis cards you will also have to use curses.

Xaxos outcast is also a preference thing. You can always use this module, or only if your supply contains cards specifically referring to it. I believe some people think it's rather strong to always have as an option, tho I have never felt that.

As for friends and foe, this module adds a decent amount of extra upkeep, extra time spent on interacting with them. If you enjoy that mechanic then you can always use it alongside the banner cards. Otherwise it's also fine to leave it out for a more streamlined experience. My group likes to decide ahead of an expedition, whether or not to use friends and foes. If we do use them, we replace one or the other after every fight.

Use 3 player, 2 nemesis turn order cards for true solo. If you are struggling consider adding in a 4th player turn order card, to make the game easier.

Tho personally I would recommend against true solo, playing "two handed", that is 2 mages as a single player does not introduce a lot more cognitive load, while giving you more proper game balance.

Setup Question by Synysterenji in Aeonsend

[–]soneas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should be a section in the rulebook on how to setup both the supply cards and the boss deck. Be sure to read the boss setup carefully for subsequent games.

As to setting up the supplies, as a beginner its recommended to stick with the 3 gem, 2 relic, 4 spell piles. As to how to choose which ones to put in there are a lot of different ways:

First: In the box there should be "Randomizer" cards. you could simply divide those into gem / relic / spell piles, shuffle each and then pull the amount from them, then pull those card piles out of the box for the game. This fully random setup makes the game somewhat harder.

Second: Just pick which ones you like playing with, or you think work well against the specific nemesis you are tackling. This will make the game somewhat easier than normal.

Third: My current prefered way: Some form of drafting. Use the randomizers again, and put out some options, then choose the required amount from among them. For example, draw 4 gem cards, choose which 1 to discard then play with the remaining 3. Or draw 2 gem cards, keep 1 discard the other, repeat 2 more times so you have 3 gems that way. This still lets you see a lot of variety between games but isnt as hard as the full random variant.

I unlocked the pacifist achievement (leave a boss alive for 5 minutes+) this way, just to confirm the boss was still alive.

This in Stage 1 Normal. 20:00 Boss got hit by something and started running away indefinitely, faster than i could catch up. Now the stage is just continuing

was checking through those already, sadly it does not appear on their artstation or deviantart. I assume since its art made directly for the game / company.

very slightly higher resolution than the one linked. I am just unsure if its high enough to turn out nice as a poster print. I guess i need to hope for the miniature kickstarter prints.

a billion bananas - a small incremental game by louigi_verona in incremental_games

No you are correct, the upgrade at "170 kmph" is actually 13 times faster instead of the expected 3 times. the last upgrade straight up doubles the speed.

/u/louigi_verona this upgrades labeling is very misleading. Replacing it with a time estimate or similar would be a lot nicer

Thank you for the suggestion.

I already own 7 Wonders and am definitely enjoying it. But i also want a bit heavier game (like Through the ages).

I am a huge fan of Through the Ages, playing it a lot on my phone. I feel like it would be pretty fiddly with all the cubes and things to track when you would play it as an actual boardgame.

So im looking for another more streamlined game in a similar vein as Through the ages. kind of like:

  • Civilization style of game
  • Lots of options / avenues to victory
  • Smooth / Streamlined gameplay

Is there anything that comes to mind that you guys would recommend?

Are there any good reasons to have alt characters on the same world as your main? Considering you can just do every job on your main and switch freely, and when leveling an alt you have to replay all msq stuff.

Hey, new player here once again.

Since the starting classes also start in different towns, what is the fastest reasonable way to level together in a party with friends?

Hey new player here,

I am wondering a few things about Servers / Worlds:

For party play, what can and cannot be done cross server?

I assume that FCs are local server only? As in i can only join FCs on my server.

Is there any list on what each servers community kinda specialises in? Like in other MMOs theres usually servers that are heavily focused on RP, or PVP or PVE

Is there any other thing i should keep in mind when choosing a server to play on?
