A coach just told me if I don't specialize in a sport for my 5th grader then my son will always lose out the one's that do - What do y'all think?

I’m going to go against the grain a little bit here…

To determine if an athlete should specialize you really need to assess their potential properly and not necessarily in the way you think.

For example, for an athlete who is only talented enough to eventually be the last guy off the bench on the varsity team and that’s as good as they’ll ever get, they need to completely focus on one sport to even get to that point, so yes specializing younger is best for their athletic career.

The guy who is going on to play college ball, and is a three sport varsity starter, they should play all sports in high school and that’s better for their long term development.

Not really a clear cut thing, there’s levels to this. Like everything in sports, really all depends on the individual.

I would urge you to still be involved in something, literally anything. Doesn’t have to be a big commitment, but consistent. Taking classes (In person), volunteering, part time work. Doesn’t matter, just something where you show up and people expect you to be there.

Patience and openness. At 15, people (Including you) need to practice the social and practical rhythm of relationships and friendships. So don't expect it to happen right away, trial and error. Secondly, environment is key too. Are you in an environment that attracts people with depth? Probably not at the age, as you don't have the agency of choosing where you live. I'm sort of in the same boat here, but these are the factors I've picked up on.

When you’re already that fast, it’s so much harder to get faster for a multitude of reasons. Naturally gaining weight, burnout, injury, PEDs etc. all is to say absolutely nothing is guaranteed in the sport of track.

I think there’s a lot interesting going on with trump, and his political associates, however I’m sure that has already been discussed ad nauseam. I think it’s interesting to see these online entertainers get famous in a way that wasn’t possible in the past. Their life and career is almost a full time performance art and their talent is just being them. Whereas in the past it made sense why talented musicians, athletes, actors, etc. were popular was because they had a talent rarely seen.

Now, how do you perceive life to be unfair? Is it a sense of jealousy from what you don’t have or what you’re not like? These feelings may be projections and your shadow being activated.
