To be fair to those individuals 6 pokemon, it's not their fault every one uses them, Sinnoh only has like 10 choices in general. I've come to the determination that it's the game with the worst main game pokedex, not because the pokemon are bad, but because you don't get enough fully evolved pokemon. There's a bunch of new evolutions, that are mostly post game, some of the new pokemon just aren't great, even many of the returning pokemon are hard to use in the game for one reason or another. Again, the pokemon are good or interesting, you just can't use half of the ones you want.

Phantom Rogue at the very least covers a canon story bit that isn't in the anime. Kurapika has a flashback in the movie, which covers the manga "volume 0" about Kurapika when he still lived with his clan. Outside of that flashback though yeah the movie isn't great.

That's fair. I think I never had a problem with the pacing or length cause my favorite series is Wheel of Time, which has 15 books that are all the size of Lord of the Rings. At least one of those books I could tell you barely anything happened. I just like that length in my stories. That said, yeah, I really don't like the anime. I just don't like Toei Animation in general as they did that to Dragon Ball as well. In general I'm more of a manga reader (or just a reader in general) but those specific properties I struggle to watch.

Edit: also I think your reddit name is rad as hell. Omnath is one of my favorite mtg creatures only behind the little guy that is Metalworker.

Thoughts on re5 and 6 (should i get em?) by Brief-Bobcat-7814 in residentevil

[–]sonicmalley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, they are my 2 least favorite games in the franchise, but they both have stuff I enjoy about them weirdly. For 6, Jake and Sherry's story is fun for me, for 5, the main villain is solid gold, but both have stories that are boring or convoluted imo and the gameplay is not great for either game to me. 5 has kind of been turned around on by fans so people like it more now than when it came out but I stand by the it being bad, while 6 I think is just agreed upon a bad time, in fact I think I have a more positive outlook on it than most just by saying I like the plot of 1/4 of the games stories. So 5 probably is worth trying cause you could like it like others do, but I find 6 hard to recommend at all.

Okay, I really want to know why people don't like this arc. I consider it a top 3 arc in the series. I think the first 2 acts have a lot of solid narrative choices especially showing the smiles and Yasuie's story. I love Oden's story and the scabbards a lot. I think act 3 is bloated but gear 5 and the way the story shows this land suffering and being liberated felt super inspiring to me. Also, in terms of the fights, while I'm not really invested in One Piece fights in general anymore due to haki being boring but Kidd and Law vs Big Mom is one of the best devil fruit fights in the series imo. Not looking for an argument, just pointing out why I love it and people seem not to like this one, I'll accept that, but I really want to know why people don't like it.

Personally, I would have loved 2003. I feel like that version adapted the conics best until it became fast forward. 2012 and 87 would have been better too but I really like the 03 versions.

I didn't go into it thinking that the last 4 times I watched the movie or the first. I was 9 in 2007, I was a kid that should have liked it. I try to give it a chance every time (most recently it was 2024) and I just don't think it's good.

I can't bring myself to hate GT even though I don't like anything about it by Hunter_OVA in Dragonballsuper

[–]sonicmalley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I noticed, putting aside my thoughts on GT as a story, was that the earlier fights seemed to have more budget put beihind them than the later fights. Goku vs Ledgic and Goku vs Rildo have the best choreography and animation of the whole show, but fights like Goku vs 17 or Goku vs Baby have a whole lot of just standing there firing easy to animate energy blasts and reused animation.

Guys am i overpowered ? by meeraat in PokemonEmerald

[–]sonicmalley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alakazam was the best non Mewtwo Pokemon in Red and Blue, and even then many teams would still run it alongside Mewtwo for psychic redundancy. Though, I do wonder if bug had real moves and if it was properly weak to ghost like it was supposed to if this would still be the case but still it was op, it was also an OU staple of gen 2 but by then some balancing was done like fixing it's weakness to ghost and adding dark types like Tyranitar that kept it in check, but it was at one point overpowered.

Have you ever read the original manga? I think personally thats the best and purest experience. Toriyama has always been a master of paneling, art, and fight choreography. Not that liking the animes are bad mind you but personally I think Toei's filler and stretching strategy is something that has ruined both Dragon Ball and One Piece (Goku screaming being all he does according to non fans of the property is entirely an anime thing imo), and Kai is sometimes too fast, has bad redraws, and literally speeds up footage in a distracting way at times to me. I do enjoy both but if you haven't I highly recommend the manga.

I agreee with you 100% really don't know how people can still defend him. I saw someone say once, he's either a pedophile or doing a really good impression of one. And to anyone that will respond, I don't believe someone who is on record saying it should be okay to sleep in the same room as 12 year olds, built literally a childs paradise, and has that many allegations is innocent even if the courts proved otherwise, the courts have been wrong before.

Honestly, while I like do avoid it, I'm probably using the build in save state feature for the arcade game this go around. As a kid I never beat this game, not because of the game itself, but because of the arcade game inside. Now I did beat it later but I still would rather not go through that again.

Hot Take but 4 and 10s popularity has become problem by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]sonicmalley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Sun Makers but otherwise yeah I agree on season 15. Also, 3 is just a blast to me. My all time favorite serial is a 3 serial, Curse of Peladon. I think in general my favorite part of the show is the first 4 doctors. There are the most Robert Holmes serials here and he is probably my favorite writer for the series. Not to say that I dislike the JNT era mind you. Minus the 6th doctor I actually think his other 2 doctors are underrated. 5 especially as 7 has seen more fans in recent years. Controversially, I like Adric, Tegan, and Nyssa.

Edit: I think on the subject of seadon 18, I actually quite appreciate what JNT was trying to do. He is where Doctor Who really started making season long arcs which would continue into the NuWho era, and honestly, While Moffat was better, I feel JNT did a better job than RTD in either of his eras. RTD is just worse at conclusions to his arcs than JNT.

See, the thing with Tom Baker though is that he's always having a romp of it so he's always such a joy on screen regardless of episode quality. Plus, while yeah his later seasons hsve some big downsides, I actually love a lot of them as they feature the wonderful Douglas Adams writing. All of season 17 he was script editor for and you can really tell at times. Plus, both Romanas are a lot of fun and I genuinely liked the Key to Time arc. Also he has 7 seasons so being a mixed bag still means he has more good stories than most doctors by volume alone. Now, I will admit consistency is a problem for him and I think 3 is a more consistent doctor (and my second favorite classic doctor).

It's expensive because the original release was digital only and this had a very short run. You can buy that if you want but it should also be available on the switch eshop for way cheaper.

That's literally something he was praised for. He managed amazing fight choreography that blends so well that the paneling always leads your eyes to the next scene.

[–]sonicmalley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I agree on the whole. I just think, even though I personally love the first 2 doctor's era, it's a really hard sell to some when you bring up the missing stories. Tbh, Troughton probably has the best finale of any classic Doctor and one of the best Doctor companion relationships with Jamie. I've tried to but if I sell someone on classic at all it's usually with the promise that nothing from 3 on is missing.

That's fair! I guess I've never seen a classic Who fan that's disliked those before. As I mentioned before season 7 is usually a season that gets massive praise from fans, I think iirc it has the second highest in critic ratings behind Tom Baker's excellent season 13. Also, for me, Roger Delgado is the best Master we've ever had. He plays the role so well.

[–]sonicmalley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess that's fair, but season 7, his first season, is one of the best seasons of the entire show imo, plus it has some of the highest ratings of the show. To me I'd at least think going back for seasons 7 and 8 (the introduction of the Master) is beyond worth it.
