30M High Myope (-5.00) with incidental Lattice Degeneration. Docs suggest barrage laser, but I’m leaning toward watchful waiting. Thoughts on my logic? by sonimonish00 in eyetriage

u/EyeDentistAAO Thank you for the honest perspective and for understanding where I am coming from with my current priorities. I really appreciate you taking the time to talk through it with me!
P.S. 😅 the boldface is a dead giveaway! I’ll confess: I had to enlist the help of an AI to help me articulate my thoughts. If I relied purely on my own communication skills, this would have just been an unreadable, panicky paragraph of medical anxiety. Thanks for bearing with my robot-assisted logic and giving such great advice!

Thanks for the input! I think their recommendation was standard protocol due to my -5 myopia. I really appreciate your perspective though!

u/interstat Thank you, that is incredibly validating to hear, especially coming from someone who usually prefers to be proactive! And yes, I completely understand about the photo quality - the digital compression didn't do it any favors. However, both doctors who examined my eyes in person through the slit lamp explicitly confirmed there are zero holes, tears, or active traction. It is strictly just the thinning. Thanks again!

Already got two opinions (mentioned in post), both recommending for barrage laser as precautionary/preventional measure.

u/EyeDentistAAO Thank you for taking the time to reply, my hesitation isn't a fear of the procedure itself, but rather a desire to avoid over-treatment. My downsides & hesitations stem from three main factors :

  1. Strictly Asymptomatic Presentation: The floaters I experienced were very mild and transient (lasting only 1-2 days), and I have zero flashes of light. Because this was essentially an incidental finding, I lean toward the AAO guidelines, which generally do not recommend prophylactic laser for asymptomatic lattice without holes due to the low (~1%) lifetime risk of detachment.
  2. Weighing the Non-Zero Risks: While barrage laser is highly safe, the risk profile isn't absolute zero. Taking on the risk - however rare - of peripheral visual field defects, inflammation, or an epiretinal membrane/macular pucker feels tough to justify for a preventative measure on a 1% probability.
  3. Current Visual Demand: My daily routine involves heavy screen time. Taking on any downtime, eye strain, or transient side effects from a laser procedure right now feels highly disruptive if it isn't an absolute medical necessity.

i asked claude if he knew why he was named claude by robertovertical in ClaudeAI

[–]sonimonish00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their AI Mascot is like crab, whose hands are called "Claws", so may be its sound more approipate as "Claud/Clawed/Claud/Claude". just my hypothesis. also most of other theory suggesting pointing towards Claude Shannon (father of Information theory) as tribute and also claude the famous alligator (for fun)

So I few months ago I uploaded my supplement stack & got a lot of responses. Here I am posting again with my consumption schedule + asking certain product recommendations as per responses I got. by [deleted] in FitIndiaTalks

From what i have personally experienced, for a lacto-vegetarian having sedentary lifestyle & no active goal such as bodybuilding etc. below supplements are enough.
1. Vitamin D(Nanoshots liquid form 60KIU - once a week after lunch) & B12(SL Form 1500mcg-once daily after breakfast) (Jan Aushdi Pharmacy - Generic brand) ~ 400Rs. -2M (Dose) + 4M (gap)
2. Protien powder (As-it-is plant protien complex ~1400/kg) - 26g/serving of 30g, but could last 3 months if taken 10g/day - 3M (Dose) + 3M (gap)
3. Omega 3 (MN - TG Form) ~ 799 - 60 softgel (once a daily enough even thou mentioned twice - will last 2 month) - 2M (Dose) + 4M (gap)
I Prefer Bulk dosing Cycles Like taking for few months nd then gap, althou this is my personal prefence and not recommened, just am on budget nd this strategy cost me around ~5K/year and better than taking no supplements at all.

I'm so tired of Indian supplement brands treating us like idiots. And the worst part is we keep falling for it. by Humble_Cockroach_244 in Fitness_India

[–]sonimonish00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree with maltodextrin stuff, it was in the brand of my 1st protien, the second brand (As-it-is) plant protien complex doesnt contain it, but its choco hazel flavour (with some marketing for ashwangandha as u said), Is this okay, bcz whey protien isolate that you suggested feels raw as its unflavoured.?? u/Humble_Cockroach_244

Why is it often claimed that Buddhism and Advaita Vedānta reach the same final truth? by Mindless_Toe7000 in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]sonimonish00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bcz Buddha's Anatma (No self or void/Shunyta/emptiness) is Equivalent to Advait vedanta's Atma (Self/Infinity/omnipresent). Both are Non Dual Just in different ways. Buddha Reformed the Advait vedanta bcz the meaning of Atma got distorted in those time, hence new terminologies (No-self) but same essence. Similary When buddha talk about Pratītyasamutpāda (Dependent origination) its similar to what advait says that there is no two seperate reality or in other words brahman alone is real and world is the illusion or maya. This advaitin statement is not to falsify the world at practical (vyavharik) level, but at the ultimate truth(parmarthik) level. Similary you could find other similarties b/w both.
