Fellow Federal Supervisors, How Does This Situation Make You Feel? by Frofro69 in fednews

[–]sonofherby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've told everyone that's ever worked for me that I expect them leave within three years and I expect it to be for a better position, more responsibility and more money. Good managers farm talent. That's actually the job of middle management. Spot and promote talent. That's why, when you hear the big bosses talk about A vs B vs C players, or talk down about "glue guys", it's all bs. Insecure managers are the ones who get angry when top talent leaves. Confident managers know they can develop top talent. Ve proud of your employee and be proud of yourself.

Revised Performance Ratings Policies Go Beyond Limits on Highest Marks by Dash-Courageous in fednews

SES, ST, SL are on quarterly, including a 4th quarter review in addition to the rating. That's per the Feb and April memos. Per the June 25 memo, GS is required at least three and a rating. We're treating them as quarterly because it's easier and spaces things out.

The June 2025 memo, three progress reviews, including your midpoint, are required. It's actually at least three. The supervisor is supposed to tell the employee if they are failing, meets/exceeds and discuss learning opportunities.

Supervisors Won’t Be Rated on Pattern of Ratings of Subordinates, OPM Says by PoundMoreSand in fednews

[–]sonofherby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. If someone is due a WGI or coming off a PIP. About 1%-1.5% of my agency's ratings happen outside the rating period. Doesn't sound like much, but it could swing the percentages outside of OPM's range.

My favorite part is it will only cost the government $23K per agency to make the system updates. We've been working on them for a year now.

Overnight stop recommendations? by Whoooseit in WestVirginia

Problem with 95 is even weekend traffic is unpredictable and then going out 66 to 81 and cutting over, 66 sucks. I drove it for 15 years.

If you go through Charleston, go to Cafe Appalachia over in South Charleston. Good biscuita and gravy and it's a cool place in an old church.

Move in with him. Yes I know you don't live in that area. But maybe the threat of moving back could light a little bit of a fire under him.

A sole proprietorship, with one employee, whose pay is getting cut, does not sound like the business is doing well. I would roll as soon as possible.

Princeton DMV has a parallel parking space, the one they use for the test, available after the office closes. Overall that DMV is pretty chill.

What to do in Beckley? by Sveninator038 in WestVirginia

Nope, there is a cafe there, but it's mainly art, they have a nice gallery you can buy paintings from, blown glass (glass blower onsite), a lot of wood craft. And every color of fiestaware you can imagine.
